Have you found yourself gleaning inspiration from people already standing on your mountain of dreams?

Basketball? __Jordan
Football? _Brady
Golf? _Tiger
UFC? _McGregor
Boxing?__ Pacquiao
Entrepreneurs? _GaryVee
Swimming? Phelps

They may inspire a totem of a future self, but trying to perform at their level before understanding your current ability or performance gaps could destroy your confidence to stick with your goals.

If you’ve ever run longer distance competitively you’ll recall a coach saying to focus on passing the person in front of you, and then adjust sights to the next.

Had the coach hyped you up and said to chase an Olympian’s times day one you would gas out and not even finish the race.

Don’t get crushed under unrealistic expectations of yourself. Build toward your dreams day by day starting where you stand now and climb your mountain step by step. Vision is important, but never more than your process to get there.

There’s someone one step ahead of you in almost anything. Adjust your sites to them! Find inspiration at the appropriate level in line with your bigger picture. It’s much easier to bridge that performance gap than to ball like Jordan week 1.

I’ve needed to hear this in the past, and had to remind myself of it this past week as I was beating myself up.

Sometimes all it takes is a good wingman to keep positive and focused.

As of 2022 veteran suicides now sit at 17.5 per day which is 57% higher than civilians. While this is a 25% decrease of suicides from 22 a day, we still have work to do as even one a day is too many.

Those with veteran, or have a family member or friend serving, take the time to reach out. Maintain friendships and bonds as they could one day save that life.
