Restore Small Groups

Restore Small Groups Helping people transform their lives through safe, quality, and affordable peer-to-peer small groups. Everyone is struggling with something. You are not alone!

In small group, we extend love, empathy, and respect to each other in our shared humanity. Our groups consist of 5 to10 participants and 2 trained facilitators, all who commit to an 8-week journey together. In group we get to the heart of our struggles, building intentional, healing relationships on the way. With thousands of participants worldwide, we have seen transformation in the areas of anxi

ety, depression, relationship issues, low self-worth, grief and loss, rage, loneliness, or anything else holding you back from a full life. Restore Small Groups was founded by Scott Reall at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and now operates as it's own non-profit. Scott and Executive Director Sara Hamill work to intentionally provide Journey to Freedom, our flagship book, and other small groups as a means to offer a path to lasting transformation for anyone dealing with life's struggles.

Grief can change the way we see ourselves, our relationships, and the life ahead of us.

Journey to a New Beginning After Loss is a small group experience designed to help you process loss, understand your grief, and find a path forward with hope.

Through guided reflection and honest conversation, you’ll have space to grieve what has been lost, reconnect with yourself and others, and begin imagining what a new beginning can look like.

You don’t have to walk through grief alone.

Join an upcoming Journey to a New Beginning After Loss group.

Most of us have a much narrower understanding of grief than we realize.
Grief isn't only about death. We can grieve the loss of relationships, trust, safety, identity, belonging, health, dreams, opportunities, and the life we thought we would have.

And loss is cumulative.
Unresolved losses can build upon one another, sometimes for years. What feels like a reaction to something happening today may actually be connected to pain that has never been fully processed.

Unresolved grief can shape how we see ourselves, relate to others, respond emotionally, and cope with life. It can contribute to patterns like isolation, anger, resentment, emotional shutdown, and relationship difficulties.

At Restore, we believe understanding our losses is an important part of understanding ourselves.

We often hide the parts of ourselves we fear will make us unacceptable—the grief, shame, struggle, questions, and stories we’re not sure anyone else could understand.

But healing rarely happens in hiding.

It happens when we risk being known and discover that instead of rejection, we are met with compassion, presence, and connection.

That’s what Restore groups are about: a safe place to tell the truth about your life, be received without fixing or judgment, and discover that you don’t have to carry it alone.

Come experience a Restore group.

Hope has no walls.

Recently, we celebrated a powerful milestone in our partnership with the YMCA in Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services as 87 incarcerated men and women graduated from their first Journey to Freedom groups.
These participants came from a wide range of backgrounds and offenses, but every one of them was given the opportunity to step into a journey of healing, self-awareness, and transformation.
One graduate, a woman who has been in and out of prison multiple times, shared that after completing Journey to Freedom, she is determined not to return again.

Stories like hers remind us why this work matters.
We praise God and are incredibly grateful for the Zimbabwe YMCA Kadoma team, the prison officers who embraced this vision, and every leader who made this first phase possible. Together, we are creating Christ-Centered spaces where hope can flourish, even in places many have forgotten.

It’s common to have spent years growing in our faith while unknowingly carrying emotional wounds that continue to shape how we relate to God, ourselves, and others.

Healing doesn't happen through information alone. It happens when we have the courage to explore our stories in safe community, practice honesty and vulnerability, and experience grace in the places we've learned to hide.

That's why Restore exists.

Our trauma-informed small groups are designed to help you move toward greater emotional health, deeper relationships, and lasting transformation.

If you're ready to take the next step in your journey, we'd love to walk with you.
