Founded in 2013, Nashville Diaper Connection ("NashDiaper" or "NDC") is Middle Tennessee's only Diaper Bank. NashDiaper operates like a Food Bank except we provide diapers. Diapers are not covered by any Federal or State safety net program. We have helped diaper over 150,000 babies and given away over 7.5 million diapers. Background:
In 2013, president Doug Adair was talking with a friend who vo
lunteers at a local food bank. When he asked the simple question, "What can I do to help?," the food bank director said "Find me some diapers!" That didn't sound too tough, until Doug started the research and learned about America's diaper need. He found diaper banks in a few other cities but nothing was being done for Middle TN's diaper need. So he cleared out space in his garage and started spreading the word and building relationships in Nashville and Middle TN to get and distribute diapers. What is Diaper Need:
Diaper Need is the struggle to provide babies with clean, dry diapers. 1 in 3 families in America report experiencing diaper need. Infants require up to 12 diapers per day, toddlers about 8. Diapers cost aroun $100 a month. Families often have to choose between food and diapers. Most childcccare centers require parents to provide a day's supply of disopsable diapers to leave their child. Of U.S. parents struggling with diaper need, 3 in 5 miss work or school due to a lack of sufficient diapers to send their child to childcare, day care or early education programs. How NashDiaper Works:
NashDiaper receives cash, diaper donations, and purchases diapers through our membership with the National Diaper Bank Network. We then have volunteers come in and repackage the diapers to be distributed through our partner network, who address families' other needs. We currently have 69 partner agencies across Nashville as well as 24 clinics and 15 community college campuses across Middle TN. Need Diapers?
