CreatiVets’ mission is to provide combat disabled veterans with the opportunity to use art, music, and creative writing to address the psychological and emotional needs that arise from combat-related trauma. Our goal is to empower veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury with tools they can use for the rest of their lives to combat stress, depression and other side effects of war.

We recently hosted a free community art class at the iconic Nashville Parthenon, led by the incredibly talented Fiona Capuano. Our veterans gathered to paint on rocks, turning simple, raw materials into unique pieces of art—a powerful reminder that value is whatever you choose to put onto it.

Through art and music, CreativeVets empowers wounded veterans to heal, grow, and reconnect. Our community programs are 100% free for all veterans.

Stop by CreatiVets Headquarters on Saturday, September 19, and learn how to sew your own glasses case. No sewing experience is necessary, and this program is open to everyone!

Session times:

Day one of our August Songwriting Cohort is officially underway in Nashville! 🎶

Through our songwriting program, CreatiVets pairs combat veterans with hit songwriters and a dedicated mentor backstage at the Grand Ole Opry. Together, they create a safe and supportive space where veterans can share their experiences and turn their stories into original songs.

The process begins with a conversation—listening to the moments that shaped each veteran, finding the heart of their story and transforming those experiences into lyrics and melodies. Veterans do not need any previous songwriting or musical experience. They simply bring their story, and our team helps them give it a voice.

Day one is about more than writing music. It is about expression, connection and building a community where veterans feel heard and understood.

The conversations have started. The songs are beginning to take shape. We cannot wait to share more from this incredible cohort.

We’re less than ONE WEEK away! 🎶

On August 25, we’re welcoming five veterans and five veteran mentors to Nashville for a life-changing CreatiVets songwriting program.

Each veteran will be paired with professional songwriters to transform their experiences into original songs backstage at the Grand Ole Opry. Those songs will then be brought to life alongside some of Nashville’s best musicians and studios.

Our goal is simple but powerful: help veterans tell their stories once—through a song they can share for a lifetime.

Your support makes every part of this experience possible, from bringing veterans to Nashville to placing a finished recording in their hands. Help us continue giving veterans a new way to process their experiences, share their stories, and heal through music.

Three teams. Four weeks. One incredible creative challenge. 🎨🎭

CreatiVets just wrapped up a four-week program with Nossi College of Art and Design, where three student teams competed to create the marketing, print materials, and signage for this year’s Scars to Scripts event!

From social media content and website pages to a full-scale billboard, each team brought their A-game and made it incredibly difficult for us to choose a winner. We were blown away by their creativity, professionalism, and dedication to helping share veterans’ stories.

We can’t wait for you to see their hard work come to life at Scars to Scripts on November 9 at TPAC!

A huge thank-you to Nossi College of Art and Design for reaching out to us about this project. We’re grateful for this collaboration and hope to work together again in the future!
