Ride Assist Naperville

Ride Assist Naperville Providing safe, affordable, and dependable transportation for Naperville seniors to medical appointments. Our first ride was in April of 2017.

Naperville Seniors in Action was developed to oversee "Ride Assist Naperville" (RAN). RAN, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, is a volunteer driver program which provides seniors transport to and from medical appointments. RAN provides affordable, dependable transportation for seniors and their caregivers to medical appointments in the greater Naperville area. Volunteers will pick the senior up

at their residence, take them to their appointment, wait while they are with their doctor, then return them home. This is not a shared ride, unless a caregiver accompanies the senior. Since then, we've grown and helped hundreds of Naperville senior citizens. As a nonprofit we are always in need of volunteers! Volunteer drivers remain our constant need, because without them, we wouldn't be able to "run". We are always on the lookout for engaging board members, help with grant writing, marketing, and fundraising. We ask for a nominal $15 donation per round trip ride to help offset some of our operating costs. No senior is required to pay if they cannot afford to. In order to keep this an affordable service, we do rely on grants and personal donations. Please know your generous, tax-deductible donation is greatly appreciated. You are helping us continue to assist Naperville's Seniors and their families.

"Bloom where you are planted"

That's what a future volunteer told us this morning when we met for tea and to chat about volunteering. I love it. She said that she wishes she could be there for her mom who lives far away, but by helping volunteer at RAN, she feels like she is putting good into the world as a thank you to the people who are there for her mom.

For 25 years Naperville Community Television (NCTV17) 's Spotlight has shone a light on the Naperville-area nonprofits working to strengthen our community. At Ride Assist Naperville, our mission is built on something simple: showing up for people, especially the ones who raised us, taught us, and paved the way before us. Few public figures embodied that spirit quite like Dolly Parton.

Dolly never forgot where she came from, and she spent her life making sure others didn't get left behind either, whether that meant funding literacy programs so every child could have books at home, supporting her community through hard times, or simply treating everyone she met with warmth and respect. She believed in taking care of people, and she backed that belief up with action, generosity, and an open heart.

That's the same spirit that drives our volunteer drivers every day. Neighbors showing up for neighbors, making sure our seniors can get to the doctor, the pharmacy, and back home safely, with dignity and a friendly face along the way. Dolly's legacy reminds us why that work matters: because caring for one another is one of the most meaningful things we can do.

Thank you, Dolly, for a lifetime of generosity, authenticity, and love.
