When history is lost, so are the places that help us understand where we've been and inspire where we're going. But our future is still ours to shape.

For decades, artists, filmmakers, and creators have helped bring the reality of nuclear weapons into public view. This is Part 2 of a series showing works of art that have shaped both public opinion and policy. Works like “When the Wind Blows” remind us that art can reach people in ways facts and statistics alone cannot.

At NuclearSpring, we're continuing that tradition through large-scale public art: the NuclearSpring Peace Pole and its upcoming tour. Together, we can use creativity to confront one of humanity's greatest challenges.

Not the End of the World Cup: Part 1

The World Cup is more than a game.

It's a moment when billions of people, across every continent, celebrate together. Strangers become teammates. Rivalries become respect. Memories are made that last a lifetime.

Nuclear disarmament may not always be in the headlines, but the threat has not disappeared.

Many people believe nuclear issues belong to the past, but nuclear weapons remain a present-day reality. Nearly every nuclear-armed nation is upgrading its nuclear weapons, making them more advanced as countries move away from reducing their arsenals. (Kristensen & Korda, 2025).

The choices we make today will shape the safety and security of future generations.

Tania shares that this issue continues to matter and that keeping the conversation alive is so important. Through art and storytelling, we are creating opportunities for people to learn, reflect, and engage with the importance of nuclear disarmament.

More than 12,000 nuclear weapons still exist worldwide. Their presence may have become familiar, but it should never feel inevitable.

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) estimates that over 12,000 nuclear warheads existed at the beginning of 2026. Of those, 4,012 were deployed with missiles and aircraft, and between 2,100 and 2,200 were kept on high operational alert.

Fear cannot be where the conversation ends.

We are using the cultural power of art to bring nuclear disarmament back into public life. Through the NuclearSpring Peace Pole, youth voices, artists, educators, activists, and communities can meet one another, ask difficult questions, and imagine what a safer future could look like.

Stadiums, fields, and the moments that bring people together would be gone in an instant. A disappearance of connection, energy, and shared experience. All that would remain are memories. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

The first step to creating change is recognizing the reality. Next, as a collective, we can act.

Our organization is dedicated to promoting education and awareness through our art project, creating our NuclearSpring Peace Pole that will be showcased in a tour and celebrated community-wide.
