NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world.

The Deep East Texas Branch is a local group of NASW-Texas, a professional membership association that is committed to advancing professional social work practice and the profession; and to promoting human rights, social and economic justice, and unimpeded access to services for everyone. NASW-Texas' Deep East Texas Branch includes the following counties:
Angelina, Houston, Jasper, Nacogdoches, New

ton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity & Tyler. NASW Vision Statement:

The members of the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers envision Texas as a state where the basic human needs of each individual are met, where all people are treated with dignity, where caring communities are supported, where diversity is valued, and where social workers are involved in every facet of planning, policy, and the service delivery system.

Opportunity to shape our profession by participating in a research study!

This research study examines the role of mentorship in the career advancement of Black women in the social work profession, with a particular focus on leadership development. This study has received Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval through the University of Kentucky.

The study involves a brief (5-7 minute) anonymous survey for eligible participants:
- Black/African American women
- Age 18 or older
- Hold a degree in social work
- Have at least one year of current or previous professional social work experience

Participation is completely voluntary, and no identifying information will be required.
