Read Muskegon

Read Muskegon One in six adults in the United States is functionally illiterate, reading at or below the 4th grade level.
(1)

In Muskegon County, that translates to more than 21,000 adults. The adverse effects of illiteracy are felt in our economic, education, criminal justice, and healthcare systems. Read Muskegon is breaking the generational cycle of illiteracy by providing customized programs that meet the unique needs of our learners and building community partnerships to maximize our impact.

Just 10 days left—and less than $5,000 to go!

We are incredibly close to reaching our matching goal of $75,000... all because of a community that continues to show up in ways we never could have imagined.

There's still time to make your impact go twice as far. Every donation made before the deadline will be DOUBLED. Plus, you'll also be recognized on our donor wall in our new literacy center.

Help us close the final gap. We're almost there! 📚✨

Transforming a long-vacant building in Muskegon Heights into a vibrant Literacy Center, expanding free programs and strengthening community through literacy.

Come enjoy great drinks, make new connections, and celebrate community. Whether you're a longtime supporter or just looking for a fun way to spend your evening, we'd love to see you there!

We’re still soaking in all the love and support from our soft opening earlier this week and have so many more photos and thank-yous to share in the coming days.

We wanted to start with our ribbon-cutting ceremony and recognize some of the incredible partners who helped bring our vision to life: our staff, board and campaign cabinet members, the Erhardt Construction team, and architect Andrea Riegler.

A ribbon cutting may last only a few moments, but it represents years of planning, partnership, collaboration. We’re proud of what we’ve built together.
