Congratulations to Shark Tank state winner Mason Falwell!
Mason pitched his business plan to a group of judges for the chance at $5,000 to invest in his business and won!

The Calloway County High School FFA Chapter has been able to tend the school farm located South and East of the District’s Bus Garage for the past 12 years. Through the continued support of Helena and AgVantage Insurance, the program has benefited financially. Recently with the support of the district, the chapter as able to purchase a tractor, pull behind mower, and planter; with hopes of relying less on neighboring farmers and providing more hands-on experiences for students, while still benefitting financially from the farm.
In 2026, the Calloway County High School FFA Chapter planted their first corn crop with student labor! The chapter is appreciative of the assistance over the years of area farmers who have planted, harvested, and hauled the crop for the chapter. Helena has continued to provide seed, w**d control, and fertilizer. Agvantage Insurance has continued to support the chapter with insurance coverage. Murray State University Farm Manager, Jason Robertson has committed many hours to planting and continues to harvest and haul the grain at the end of the season. As fertilizer prices have soared, the Henry Farmer’s Co-op at Midway has stepped up and is providing additional support with top dress Nitrogen.
The chapter wishes to thank these businesses and individuals for their continued support; along with the following farmers who have assisted in previous years; Richard Smotherman, Tripp Furches, Billy Dale Smith, Tim Palmer, Jon Futrell, Van Pittman, and Andrew Falwell. Thanks for assisting the chapter in following the FFA Motto: Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Learning to Live, Living to Serve.

☀️ SAE Summer Spotlight ☀️

Today’s spotlight lands us in the heart of New Providence on FPS Farms to visit Cash! Cash has a fantastic SAE project including grain, vegetables, fruit, to***co, and canola! He showed us his garden where he is growing a variety of vegetables and watermelons. Then he showed us a field of to***co and canola. He is very involved in his family farm and took off to help harvest canola once he was done showing Mrs. Miller and Dr. Falwell around. Thanks Cash!

☀️ SAE Summer Spotlight ☀️

Since June is National Dairy Month, we thought of no better stop than Lila’s to learn about her Jersey cow! Her SAE is unique and brings beef and dairy cattle together by using her Jersey as a nurse cow for calves that other wise would be raised on a bottle.

Aiden has an awesome entrepreneurship SAE in the area of Landscape Instillation and Turf Grass Management. He mows lawns and maintains landscapes around Murray and does an excellent job! Thanks for letting us slow you down a bit and visit you while you were working.

☀️ SAE Summer Spotlight! ☀️
Colson’s SAE is in the area of Specialty Crop. He grows dark fire and burley to***co with his family. He explained to us the entire process from seeding the plants, floating them in the greenhouse, setting, oiling, harvest, and stripping.

Congratulations to all of the students who passed their Agriculture EOP assessment in Plant Science or Animal Science this school year! Each student who passes their EOP earns 3 hours of college credit! To celebrate, the students were invited to attend a day learning about the industry and touring Broadbent’s learning about processing and marking, followed by a delicious meal at Patti’s!

Vet Science students Shakira Shouse, Izzy Stone, and Cameron Smith were able to attend the groundbreaking ceremony at the new MSU Veterinary Sciences Building this week! We are so excited to see the future this brings for animal agriculture in our area!
