Troop 510 Silver Project Page

Troop 510 Silver Project Page Cadette Troop 510 has an ambitious Silver Project: we are raising funds to provide 50 handmade bags filled with school supplies to SLC refugee children.

We are teaming up with the International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City. 50-75 children come as refugees to the Salt Lake City area each spring. Our girls feel strongly that these kids should start school in the fall prepared with adequate school supplies. See the photo flyer for a list of school supplies we need. We are also excited to have Joanna from 4Evergreenbags, a local seamstress, as

a troop sponsor. Joanna is providing knowledge, resources, and labor to the troop. She is designing the bags and having the girls help along the way. The girls will be doing a lot of the prep work on the 50 bags. The girls also will be doing direct fundraising in the spring & summer to provide the funds to buy the school supplies. We are contacting local & national business for corporate help but must also rely on our local community contacts to raise the necessary funds.

Today our girls are at the new International School in SLC passing out the last of the filled messenger bags. This is one big project coming to a close. Very proud of them, indeed.

Each SCaLE bag will have a small info tag.
