Domestic violence is a pattern of behaviors used by one person over another to gain or maintain power and control. It’s not always physical. Abuse can, and often does look different for everyone and can include: emotional, mental or financial abuse, among many others.

Merryman House’s Murray Transitional Housing provides families with a private room. Each family has their own space (and bathroom), then a shared kitchen and communal living space. There is NO cost to families – housing and essential needs are fully provided by Merryman House.

Merryman House’s Murray Transitional Housing provides a safe bridge between the emergency shelter and independent living for survivors and families working toward stability. With eight rooms, families can stay for up to two years – giving them time to rebuild, plan for the future and work toward a permanent home.

On Thursday, September 4, 2025, we gathered at The Barn at White Oaks for an evening filled with purpose, connection, and encouragement. Surrounded by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, guests enjoyed a wonderful dinner, participated in a lively silent auction that supported a worthy cause, and shared meaningful conversations with one another.

The highlight of the evening was our featured speaker, Addison Futrell, LPCC, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Founder of New Pathways Counseling. Addison delivered a heartfelt and practical message on the power of kindness—reminding us how small, intentional actions can bring healing not only to ourselves but to those around us. Her words left the audience inspired, encouraged, and motivated to carry kindness into their everyday lives.
We are so grateful to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make this event a success. Together, we created an evening that truly reflected the impact of compassion and community.
