Regan Morgan shares about spending time with the HYM students:

Today I had the blessing of sitting back and watching Lindsey lead her HYM (Hope Youth Ministry) students. Before we started, she told me I was welcome to jump into one of the small groups and help with discussions, but honestly, I didn’t feel called to do that today. Instead, I felt like the Lord was asking me to simply sit, watch, and listen.

Around 25 students showed up, eager to learn, ask questions, and dive into God’s Word together.

We spent time reading through John 4:1-42, the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. To be honest, I had never really sat down and studied this passage for myself—I had only heard it mentioned in passing. But today, it hit differently.

What stood out to me most is that Jesus intentionally went where others wouldn’t. He met a woman who felt overlooked, rejected, and ashamed, yet He saw her completely and still chose to love her. He wasn’t intimidated by her past, her mistakes, or the labels others had placed on her. Instead, He offered her living water—the only thing that could truly satisfy the thirst in her soul.

As I sat there listening, I realized that sometimes ministry isn’t about speaking. Sometimes it’s about being still long enough to hear what God is trying to say to you. While the students were learning, the Lord was teaching me too.

I couldn’t help but think about how many of us have been that woman at the well at one point or another. Looking for fulfillment in all the wrong places, carrying things we hope nobody notices, wondering if we’re truly seen. And yet Jesus meets us there. Not after we get our lives together, but right in the middle of our mess.

Today was a reminder that Jesus sees every person, knows every detail, and still chooses to draw near. He is still offering living water to anyone willing to receive it.

Regan Morgan shares her heart on some extra time in Liberia:

"God gave me the opportunity to come to Liberia two weeks before the rest of the team, and I honestly still don’t have the words for what that means to me.

The first time I came to Liberia was in 2024. I remember sitting on the porch, looking out over the lagoon, and feeling the Holy Spirit speak so clearly to my heart: “This is it. This is home.” I can’t explain it any other way. Something in me changed during that trip, and a piece of my heart has been here ever since.

While I was in Uganda, I asked Sam if AJ and I could come a couple of weeks early this year just to help wherever needed, spend time with the people, and be available,flexible and dependable. Of course, he said yes. Months later, the plans looked different. AJ needed to stay home, and suddenly it was just me making the trip.

If you know me, you’ve probably heard me say, “Obedience before understanding.” But can I be honest? It’s a lot easier to preach that than it is to live it.

Usually God gives me at least a glimpse of the plan. This time He didn’t.

I didn’t know what I would be doing.
I didn’t know where I would be going.
I didn’t know what these two weeks would look like.

All I knew was that God said, “Go.”

So I packed my bags, boarded the plane, and trusted Him.

So here I am. Two weeks early. No agenda. No big assignment. No detailed itinerary.

And honestly? I couldn’t be more excited.

There is something so beautiful about being in a place where all your plans have to be laid down and all you can do is trust. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

That’s where I am.

I don’t understand it all, but I know the One who called me here. The same God who whispered “home” to my heart two years ago is the same God who said “go” this year.

So for now, I’m just going to be. To love people. To listen. To serve. To sit on the porch overlooking the lagoon and thank God for His faithfulness."

Meet Brave. This big boy has a predictive name. He strolls among Joel’s family and among the contenders like a young child enjoying a water park in the US. Let’s all talk to the Father on this one boy's behalf. Share his picture and his calling to be Brave, like they call him. Let’s ask the Lord to raise up a contender in Brave like this place has never seen.

My prayer for this moment and for all of us is that God might give us all an extra measure of faith in our prayers over Brave; that we would have such faith to boldly ask for impossible things. Lord, make Brave the greatest contender for your kingdom in all of Kenya. Let him speak beyond Kenya. May his brave testimony reach many shores. Use Brave to speak to our own grandchildren of the greatness of you, Jesus. I hope you find yourself being a little more brave today.

Who’s in your circle today? Who’s holding your hand and whose hand are you holding? Choose wisely and pray recklessly, the presence of the Lord is with you. Fear nothing but the temptation to hold back what God asks you to give so freely. There is a group of chosen contenders in this place who don’t know they have been chosen, yet!!! See, their life is burdened down with addiction that has taken ahold of them. They are in this place because God has his children here. This is a place of no condemnation; exactly the place hope tends to thrive the best.

If you look closely, you might see in this picture someone standing out in the circle, one who seems to be out of place, alone and by herself. If that’s what you see, you would be very wrong. See, Laurie is not in the wrong circle and she is in prayer with the ones God is chasing relentlessly. Laurie is not alone. Hovering over and in and through this circle is the spirit of the Living God.

Paul said to the Colossians, “I want you to know how hard I am contending for you.” What a humbling thing to proclaim. To contend brings the power of the redeemer who contended for us all. This broken circle of men have been given the name -“The Contenders”. One day, each of them will learn why a silly girl from Honeytown, Indiana would venture such a distance to hold their hands. They will understand the calling God is speaking over them through hope’s love. Join the circle. Pray and keep sacrificing. Every one of these men have children who will know that God has entered their dad’s circle in such a life changing way.

Naomi works in the garden. She struggles to walk. Her story is shrouded in mystery. What can be known overwhelms the need to know what can’t be known. Like why she could not walk until recently. Now she walks with a cane slowly, steady as possible and sure. She bore three sons to this world only to remain with one to walk with in this tough, broken place.

See, Naomi is one who is familiar with sorrow. Sorrow so deep that most would never lift their face again. Two of her three boys killed themselves in her home on the same day. She came to mourn her friend from the garden who passed unexpectedly. I would not have known her tragic story had I not taken the time to ask. Her name never spoken and her suffering never felt beyond the path she walks with her cane daily. It’s sacred to be given such a glimpse.

In these moments you see clearly how wicked and hateful the enemy is; how he wields his harm seemingly freely bringing a defending silence in those lives who once felt so much hope and now wonder if anyone even cares to whisper their name. Hope is about sharing the truth and light of God almighty. When that is the center of all we do the Lord moves among the silent doing only what he can do.

I am so grateful for those who pray and support and move along with our mission of Hope because of this woman and her remaining son. See, at our meeting today with those mourning the loss of Janet and Josephine, we met Naomi’s son, his smile defying the situation of their loss. Janet was their leader. The whole community was represented at this meeting to talk over what to do with their community garden that Janet led. We asked how we could help. They want sprinklers, simple ones, and seeds to plant. No problem right.

But then Naomi's son asked for training. He said, "I heard of what you have done in Liberia with Farming Gods Way. If we could have that training it would be such a blessing." So guess who is coming to this place in Kenya? Motare. He will invest in this one boy working with these 30 or so community woman in the garden Janet began. Naomi’s boy smiled ear to ear when we said yes to their requests and said, "We will send our fellow servant and missionary trained specifically for such things." Only God can do such things. It’s just a glimpse of what the Lord can do when we determine ourselves to not shrink back from the darkness but proclaim Jesus boldly. What a Hope we have been given. Thank you for walking convicted with us.

To be victorious on the mountain peak after overcoming such opposition is easy. But to live victorious in the valley of death is inspiring because it reveals in weakness the presence of the Lord; the victor. The one who defeated death and gives life to those in the midst of the most aggressive, tragic storms possible.

I am here in Kenya. Edward’s family is navigating another attack from the enemy in this valley. A week ago Kathy and Laurie came because of a project we have going on in Uganda as we build a hope center that will be a tool for the Lord's impact. They came also to mourn the tragic loss of Josephine, Janet’s wonderful, gentle, loving sister. Janet is Joel's (Edward’s brother) wife. Janet and Josephine are caretakers who God has used in some mighty ways.

Being here, several times I got to feel the love of the Lord through them as they cared for me; making sure I was fed. They would sit and take in all the Lord was laying on my heart through His word. I’m here to join what has become a deeper valley. While the ladies greeted Edward, Joel and Janet the reason for their arrival became more clear. Mission is not about buildings but about sharing life. For such a time as this.

The day after they arrived, while mourning Josephine, Janet her sister collapsed and passed away. The family is devastated, the valley deep and the victory sure because the presence of God in Jesus is here. Before leaving home, I had a huge reminder of why I am coming. It was given to me at Shirley McDowell's funeral. I had the privilege of celebrating her life well lived at Harvest just before getting on the plane to come here. Traveling from one valley to another.

The reminder was Shirley’s obsession with her prayer blanket ministry. She wanted those hurting to be covered in the prayers of the saints and she would hang these blankets in the back of Harvest, inviting us to come and say a prayer for those hurting. My own father and father-in-law were covered by this wonderful woman’s compassionate prayer blankets. So here I am among our family members in a valley near Kisumu, Kenya. I am reminded that we are victors because we are covered by a loving God who hears the prayers of His people. Death may come, but it cannot defeat life in the Son. We remain and His overflow is something to experience.

Pray for Joel and Edward. They are our family and God is to be glorified in all things. Remember that what you do matters. At times Shirley may have wondered what difference a simple blanket can make, but I am testifying in this storm that her efforts are still producing fruit today. Today’s love is tomorrow’s compassionate healing salve.

Kathy and Laurie arrived yesterday in Kenya! They are there to encourage the work and growth of the contenders (a group of men utilizing the Refuge of Hope in Kenya to turn their lives around), to look at some of the new construction projects and to encourage the church family in Kisumu during a recent family tragedy. They will also be spending time with some of the family members who lost loved ones in the bus crash last year.
Above all, they are there for whatever God is wanting to accomplish through them! Pray for their time there.

Bars are up on the windows of the school! Each piece of progress represents faithful steps taken. Our lives are a bit like this at times. We may wish that God would complete the finished product in us all at once, but instead, in growing us in his own time, he creates a stronger, more beautiful thing than we ever would in our impatience!
