Happy Halloween everyone! Did you know that the day of ghouls and goblins is an evolution of the last of old Celtic Harvest Festival days? We've closed down our own garden for the season, but we're pleased to announce that we harvested a total of 309 pounds over the course of the year!

Thanks to many volunteers who helped make it possible to bring these fresh treats to our distributions.

🎃 🎃 UPDATE: All of the pumpkins are gone - we hope everyone who picked them up has fun with their seasonal decorations! 🎃 🎃

Come to 6621 N Old SR 3, Muncie, and drive through our parking lot until you see the pumpkins. Please watch out for trucks when you're grabbing your gourds. These are not baking pumpkins, just decorative.

With Smart SNAP, candy and sugary drinks are no longer eligible to be purchased with SNAP. Looking for something to fill the gap? Juices made from 100% fruit juice are still eligible, and floral or herbal teas can have a sweet taste! You can also look on retailers' websites and filter by "SNAP Eligible" to help make decisions before you get to the store.

Flashback Friday to last year, when Needlers stores in our area raised almost $25,000 for local food banks, including us! This support came at a critical time during the government shutdown.
This year, Needler's Fresh Market is partnering with the Heroes & Hope Foundation to continue providing hunger relief. Help us stock our pantry shelves by donating $1, $5, or $10 on your next visit to Needlers in Anderson, Marion, or Pendleton. Every dollar helps provide meals for those who are facing food insecurity. Together, we can help make life a little brighter for families in need! We're used to seeing Anthem at our distributions - they come to our tailgates to offer healthcare insurance guidance to attendees. But today, they came all the way to our warehouse to volunteer!

“Access to nutritious food is fundamental to good health. Our partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank helps address food insecurity while also supporting stronger communities across East Central Indiana. We’re proud of our Anthem team members who volunteer their time to help make that work possible.”

Thanks for volunteering with us Anthem! We love being a place for teambuilding. If your organization wants to have a teambuilding day with us, you can reach out at http://curehunger.org/get-involved/volunteer

For many people in both rural and urban communities, the hardest part isn't finding help: it's getting to it. Second Harvest was proud to partner with DoorDash Impact and LifeStream Services in marking 150 million meals delivered through Project DASH. This valuable program helped a lot of people in our service area access critical resources. We were glad to be part of this effort, and hope to make this service available again in the future.
