Big Four Rail Park

Big Four Rail Park We are here to build the best rail park and viewing stand in the United States

Hello, Aidan sitgreaves here with a update.

The Virtual Railfan contract has been signed and July 7th we're doing a final site visit, getting a gear list and doing the install. The walnut diamond will come later this year or next year, I need to get in contact w BSU again.

Things are moving forward on that project, as far as railpark and nonprofit. We still need members for our board. Reach out if you have a interest. Thanks.

Aidan sitgreaves.

Hello everyone, Aidan Sitgreaves here. I just want to share some things as we have not been active for almost a year.

In late 2022, our board lost 3 core members, no fault of anyone or anything. Life just happens. That leaves myself, and Jacob Earl as the remaining 2 members. Over the course of that time, we have not really done alot, but we also did get something done.

In the summer of 2023, I reached out to Virtual Railfan, we connected over the next week or so and started the talks of "Muncie Cams". The spots were at the Ball State urban design studio at the Diamond on walnut and one at Eco Rehab at the Diamond off the now closed S council street crossing. VR came out and did a site survey and determined both locations were suitable for cams.

I reached out to BSU and Jason Haney at Eco Rehab. Ball state didnt give me a answer directly, but did indicate the building probably would not work. So in the meantime I worked on Eco.

Come Feb of 2024, I get a call that VR is in Muncie and wants to meet for a 2nd visit. I took my lunch break and met with Shane from Scaletrains ( owner of VR ) and we surveyed both sites. Walnut still needs a place to mount a cam, theres that issue. We met with Eco about a hour later and came up with a plan for a camera at that diamond. That is in the works to be installed either this or next month.

What we need as a organization - Members.

If you have a interest in this idea, or a passion for railroading, please get ahold of me and jacob earl. We dont want this to die.

Please share to the masses. - Aidan sitgreaves.

Apologys on not being active. We have been dealing with life and the crazy things it brings. Heres a few updates.

Board members - Its just Jacob Earl and Myself. We are seeking other people who have/want board experiance and also has a passion for railroads and what it can do for us.

Virtual railfan - I have been working with Bob Cox ( VRF ) and Jason Haney from eco rehab on getting a camera at the diamond behind the old Lumber yard. We've got the OK from Jason, but we have brush and other things to deal with. Once we get that done, and asses the mounting surface, its raise funds and then set a install date. The walnut street location is in limbo as no building is open for us to mount a cam.

I'm happy to be slowing reviving this project, even if its baby steps. VRF will be a huge asset to our city, and their network.

Congratulations neighbors!

We apologize for being inactive since october of 2022, we have been dealing with life and changes within our organization.

With that being said, I want to update the community on few things.

First thing - B4RP is not going anywhere, we are shifting focus from a railpark at this time, to securing a contract with Virtual Railfan and making sure that is a thing that gets done. Then we will shift into securing a place for the railpark.

Second thing - this organization and dream was just something I came up with board member Jacob Earl, and I took that idea to Charlize Jamieson. We spent months talking/speaking on how this could effect Muncie. She PUSHED me to get a community meeting together, and the rest is history.
As of April 1st, she has resigned from her role as president, and will be no longer with Big four. We would have never made it this far without the dedication and hard work from her. I am forever thankful, that she is a founding member of this.

Third - Cheryl Crowder has been on this board since the beginning as well, and she has done an amazing job at book keeping, providing connections, and making sure these meetings run smooth, as well as doing behind the scenes work. She has also resigned from the board, and we wish her nothing but the best and a huge THANK YOU for everything.

Fourth - we are pleased to announce the addition of Trenton Bush to our organization. Trenton is director of the Muncie Vistors center and will make a fantastic addition to our team!

Thank you everyone who has stuck with us. We promise to make things happen!
