Girls on the Run is an after-school program led by trained, caring coaches who facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy.

We encourage school staff, PTO/PTA’s and anyone connected to a school or community site to learn more about starting at team. We provide everything needed for a fun and successful learning experience for our teams and volunteers.

We heard from Leah Bernstein, our Program Director - and current SoleMate - who is taking on the challenge of walking 260 kilometers (161 miles) along the Camino de Santiago from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. As a SoleMate, she is raising funds to support Girls on the Run Snohomish County. Funds raised help us reach more girls with our transformative programs and allow us to provide financial assistance and a new pair of running shoes to those in need.

Leah's update from the trail: "We’re off to a good start! Beautiful weather and scenery as we make our way north along the coast from Porto to Aldeia Nova. We’ll complete 16 kilometers today."

Girls deserve every opportunity to move, grow, and believe in themselves. This International Day of the Girl, we’re proud to celebrate our continued partnership with adidas and our shared belief in the power of sport to build confidence.

Through access to low-cost, high-quality footwear, our friends at adidas are helping us provide shoes to kids in our community. Last year, 352 kids in our program received a new pair of running shoes, helping them feel ready, supported, and confident as they take on new challenges. Because when girls have the support they need, they can go farther.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Sneaker Soirée, helping us reach our fundraising goal, and showing up in so many ways to champion the girls and gender-expansive youth we serve. Your generosity helps us reach more kids with programs that build confidence, connection and lifelong life skills.
