πŸ’™ Thankful Thursday πŸ’™

Today we are celebrating and thanking one of our incredible volunteers, Kelly!

For the past year, Kelly has been a consistent, caring presence in our childcare program during support groups. Month after month, she has shown up with a smile, and a willingness to do whatever was needed.

She has been our cheerleader, our advocate, and an invaluable part of our team.

Tonight, we had the opportunity to celebrate Kelly with a small going-away party as she prepares for her next adventure. While we are excited for all that lies ahead for her, we are also incredibly sad to see her go. Her kindness, dedication, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by our families, volunteers, and staff.

Kelly, thank you for everything you have done and continue to do. The impact you've made on our organization and the children and families we serve will not be forgotten.

We wish you nothing but success, happiness, and blessings as you begin this next chapter. Once part of the FLAR family, always part of the FLAR family. ❀️

Please join us in thanking Kelly and wishing her well on her new adventure! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

Mission Monday πŸ’™

We have been packing a lot of First Night Bags for children over the past couple weeks! Each bag is packed intentionally with items needed for the first couple of nights. Our hope is the bag provides not only necessities, but comfort and warmth.
Having these items available on hand in our Resource Center is crucial in ensuring volunteers are able to fill bags with items specifically for each child's need and age.

Donate by dropping off new items or donating directly on our website! weflar.org/donate

🌟 Shoutout Saturday: Tammy 🌟

Today, we are celebrating one of the incredible people who makes our mission possible- Tammy!

Tammy has single-handedly organized, sorted, and inventoried our entire Resource Center, creating a space where families can easily access the support they need. But her impact doesn't stop there.

She spends countless hours serving our community by packing First Night Bags, encouraging families, lending a helping hand wherever it's needed, and showing up with a heart full of compassion and dedication.

Behind so much of what we do is a volunteer who quietly works tirelessly to make a difference, and Tammy is the perfect example of that.

Her kindness, commitment, and servant's heart have touched countless lives, and we are so grateful to have her as part of our village.

πŸ’™ Tammy, thank you for everything you do. We truly couldn't do this without you!

Join us in showing Tammy some love in the comments! πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

As Foster Care Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every single person who supported our fundraising efforts throughout May.

Whether you made a donation, liked a post, left an encouraging comment, shared our mission with others, or helped spread awareness, you played an important role in supporting children and families in our community. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and encouragement.

While our social media feeds have been filled with fundraising updates, we've also been hard at work behind the scenes. This month, we've been busy packing First Night Bags, hosting events, supporting youth programs, and continuing our mission to serve children and families impacted by foster care.

We can't wait to get back to sharing our regular updates and giving you a closer look at all that's been happening. Stay tuned to see what we've been working on, the impact your support is making, and what's coming up next!

Thank you for standing with us and helping make a difference. ❀️

As Foster Care Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to begin by saying thank you. πŸ™Œ

If you have followed along with us this month, you have seen us raise awareness, educate our community, and shine a light on an important part of foster care that often goes unseen: family visitation.

For children in foster care, visits with their biological family can be some of the most meaningful moments in their case. These visits help maintain connection, preserve relationships, and support reunification during an incredibly difficult season.

But the environment matters.

Here in Iredell County, many of these visits take place in rooms that feel cold and institutional, rather than warm, welcoming, and child-centered.

That is why Foster Love Adopt Repeat has taken on the project of remodeling all three DSS visitation rooms, both bathrooms, and the monitoring room.

Our goal is to help create spaces that feel more family-friendly, trauma-informed, and comforting for the children, parents, and social workers who use them.

Thank you for helping us spread the word and raise the needed funds to make this happen. If you are able to donate, please do so. Renovations will be starting later this week. πŸ’™

πŸ’”A child in foster care already carries more heartbreak than most people will ever understand. Their world has been turned upside down, leaving behind their home, their toys, their routines, and often the people they love most.

For many of these children, the visitation room at DSS becomes the only place where they get to see their parents, hug their siblings, enjoy comfort foods, and simply feel connected to family again… even if it’s only for two hours a week.

But imagine being a scared child walking into a cold, sterile room with hard floors, blank walls, and little comfort. Imagine trying to rebuild a bond with your child in a place that feels more institutional than loving. These moments matter too much for that.

Visitation rooms are not β€œjust rooms.” They are the setting for reunification. They are where healing begins. They are where children hold onto hope.

A warm, welcoming, child-centered space can change everything. Soft places to sit on the floor together. Toys that encourage connection. Sensory areas that calm anxious little hearts. Spaces that remind children they are worthy of love, comfort, and dignity, even during the hardest season of their lives.

Every child deserves a space where they can feel safe enough to laugh with their parents again. Every family deserves an environment that supports connection instead of reminding them of trauma.

Help us transform these visitation rooms into spaces filled with warmth, comfort, and hope for the children who need it most. Please donate, share, and stand with children and families in our community. ❀️
