According to Consumer Affairs, a family in North Carolina needs an annual income of $185,153 to afford childcare. In Iredell County, the median family income is $85,180, making affordable childcare seem out of reach.

Fortunately, in Iredell County, we are joining Centralina Regional Council, ExCELNC, Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce, Iredell County Partnership for Young Children, and SHRM Iredell for the IREDELL COUNTY ECONOMIC SUMMIT ON CHILDCARE.

This summit is designed to move beyond awareness and focus on what we can do about it. ExcelNC will share practical approaches employers are already using to address childcare barriers within their own workforces, along with policy solutions being considered at the state level.

Additionally, you will hear from the HR professionals who see these challenges play out every day in recruitment, retention and workforce participation. The program will include Iredell County-specific research, a panel discussion with local leaders, and time for meaningful conversation about what employers are experiencing and what solutions could make a difference.

You can read more about childcare affordability and what it could be costing North Carolina’s economy at https://tinyurl.com/childcarecrisisinnc

Then learn more about what we can do here in Iredell County and register for the IREDELL COUNTY ECONOMIC SUMMIT ON CHILDCARE at https://tinyurl.com/IredellCountyChildcaresummit

We’ll see you there!
