Today we mourn the loss of NASCAR legend Kyle Busch. As the home of his motorsports company for many years, he made a tangible impact on our Town and will leave an enduring legacy in the sport of racing. We will continue to keep his family and friends in our thoughts during this difficult time.

Dr. Selma Burke was a celebrated sculptor, known for her portrait of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, which is attributed to his image on the dime. She was born and raised in Mooresville, where her legacy as an artist and teacher is remembered with two namesake facilities, the Selma Burke Recreation Center and Selma Burke Middle School. She overcame racial and gender barriers as she emerged as one of the most influential sculptors of our time. You can visit one of her famous pieces, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial sculpture, just down the road in Charlotte.
