The Child Advocacy Network of Monroe County exists as a chartered local coalition of the Michigan Committee for Prevention of Child Abuse and a designated council of the Children's Trust Fund. The mission of CAN is to promote community awareness through programs, initiatives and general education, concerning the physical, social, and emotional well being of children and families in Monroe County.

👔💙 Happy Early Father's Day to all the amazing dads, grandpas, stepdads, and father figures!

One of the best ways to spend Father's Day is cuddling with your baby and making special memories together. Those quiet moments are priceless. However, if you find yourself getting sleepy, be sure to move your baby to a safe sleep environment before you fall asleep.

Babies should always sleep alone, on their back, in a crib, bassinet, or Pack 'n Play. Sharing cuddles is wonderful, but sharing a sleep surface can be dangerous.

This Father's Day, show your love by helping keep your little one safe while they sleep. 💙

😴 Many parents worry that their baby might choke while sleeping on their back. The good news is that healthy babies are actually safer sleeping on their backs.

A baby's airway anatomy and natural reflexes help protect them from choking. In fact, sleeping on the back significantly reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related infant deaths.

For every sleep—naps and nighttime—place your baby on their back in a crib, bassinet, or Pack 'n Play with a firm mattress and no loose blankets, pillows, or toys.

Make sure your baby always has a safe sleep space. Babies should sleep alone, on their back, in a crib, bassinet, or Pack 'n Play every time they sleep.....whether at home or away.

Before you pack, make safe sleep part of your travel checklist. A portable crib or Pack 'n Play can help ensure your little one has a safe place to rest no matter where your adventures take you.

In observance of Memorial Day, the Child Advocacy Network office will be closed on Monday, May 25.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedoms. Their courage and service will never be forgotten. ❤️🤍💙

As we spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, we encourage everyone to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and to keep the families of our fallen heroes in our hearts.

We can’t thank everyone enough who showed up today for our Strike Out Child Abuse fundraiser! From kids having fun and spending time together, to the support from school officials, the prosecutor’s office, and even members of the judiciary, it truly meant so much to see our community come together for such an important cause.
