CASA of Monroe County CASA volunteers advocate for children removed from their homes because they have been abused and/or neglected.

Children who have been physically and sexually abused and neglected find themselves in foster homes, taken from the only reality they’ve known, and in a strange new environment. They do receive support from other professi

onals but children who have suffered trauma during those fragile developmental years need extra support and a competent voice to represent them in the courtroom. Advocates are volunteers who partner with the children’s lawyers, social workers, and other professionals to lend that support. They come from all walks of life and have trained specifically for this labor of love. They visit the children every week and then provide a clear and competently written report to the judge officiating over that child’s case. The CASA is literally the eyes and the ears of the judge in that home, and then the clear and articulate voice of the child in the courtroom.

Mark your calendars! Our annual Fashion Show fundraiser is taking place on Thursday, February 5th at the Michigan Beer and Wine Portal. Come out and help us support our CASA advocates, who work directly with children right here in our community who have been through abuse and/or neglect.
