Hello everyone!
Welcome!!!
We have added quite a few new followers since the last time I posted updates so as Executive Director one of my roles is to educate and inform the community about what we are doing and the many things that we have added and a sneak peek of what is coming soon.
It's been an amazing month so far. June is national Cancer Survivor Month and Ribbons of Monroe Inc has created a private page just for Monroe County Cancer Survivors.
Stronger together: Monroe Couunty Survivors Group. Please feel free to join us.
We have greatly increased the number of people that we have been able to find resources and services for. In the past couple of weeks the number of great resources has doubled. I have personally met with them and their representatives and I'm so confident that we are able to meet the ever increasing needs of our community. And lastly, we have had great support from those of you who see and appreciate the incredible work we do. Quietly, privately, and professionally. Our future contains several new collaborations with Healthcare providers and private support agencies. I can't wait to announce all of it when the time is right. Stay tuned!
In closing... I never get tired of saying thank you to all of you who follow us and like and share our page. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Some days, building a business isn’t about getting clients—it’s about building relationships and strengthening our community.

Today I had the opportunity to meet with Mike at Ribbons of Monroe and learn more about the incredible work they do supporting individuals and families affected by cancer. From financial assistance and resources to community support, they are making a real difference for local families navigating some of life’s toughest challenges.

As a cancer survivor and the owner of ShoreLight Home Care, their mission resonates deeply with me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn more about their organization, and explore ways we can continue supporting our community together.

If you’re not familiar with Ribbons of Monroe, I encourage you to check them out and support the amazing work they’re doing. 💙

Hello everyone!
I have been thinking about sharing this experience with you all in a post but I just wasn't sure how to write it.
But here goes.
As Executive Director of Ribbons of Monroe it's my responsibility to secure funding for operating this nonprofit. For seven years we have managed to help everyone that has come to us with a need. Every time that we have been turned down for appropriate grant funding I ask myself if it's worth all of our effort and personal financial sacrifice to continue. THEN,
on Thursday, while waiting my turn to get my hair cut, the gentleman sitting next to starts to tell me about his 5 year old granddaughter who has decided to be a doctor. So she can make GIGI better. I tried to do my best to keep the tears from running down my cheeks. This disease has such an impact on all our lives. Hopefully as adults we can realize this impact. I'm constantly reminded that the greater our success the greater the challenges are to achieve it. We have a number of amazing things past the planning stages and in the action stages. Stay tuned! You are not alone and we are stepping up our programs.
WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER.!
The best is yet to come.

We need your support.
As a donor.
A volunteer.
A sponsor for a fundraiser.
With your kind words and prayers.
You are the reason we are here and our success is a result of your support.

Hello everyone!
and hello and welcome to our new followers! Every week we are growing in the number of people that we are reaching.
This post is particularly meaningful.
JUNE is Cancer survivor month.
Our County of Monroe is being hard hit by this horrible disease. In the seven years here as a nonprofit, every person that I have met and talked with, has a Cancer experience and story. Several fortunately, have had a successful outcome. For others its been unexpected and devastating to everyone involved. Ribbons of Monroe Inc continues to grow and to have a greater impact on the lives of everyone in this community facing the day to day challenges of their diagnosis. We are a 501C3 nonprofit with no paid administrators. We are all volunteer and every dollar donated and raised is spent right here in Monroe County helping you and your friends and lovedones. During the month of JUNE please consider helping us to continue being the success that we need to be. Only with your help can we make this happen.

Hello everyone!
and Welcome to all of our new followers.
We now have grown to 920. Let's keep growing and helping us serve Monroe County Cancer patients.
As Executive Director of Ribbons of Monroe Inc one of my most exciting and important roles is to share with all of you our challenges, our support and services and our continued progress. BIG NEWS! BIG NEWS!
What an amazing day for us yesterday!
First a short background story.
The Community Foundation of Monroe opened up Health Endowment Program grant opportunities. I submitted the application and letter of intent and we were accepted and scheduled to give a presentation. That happened yesterday. A couple of months ago an extremely important teams meeting was scheduled with the regional rep from The American Cancer Society concerning a possible sharing of information and service with ACS. Of course the ACS meeting scheduled more than a month ago now was at the same time same day as the grant opportunity meeting with Community Foundation of Monroe.
So...... I wish to publicly thank Vallerie Orr, Brittany Novak and Mellisa......
Forgive me if my spelling is incorrect, This team moved my presentation to 9:00 and allowed me to present first. That allowed me to quickly return to my office and make the 10:00 American Cancer Society Teams meeting. The grant from the Community Foundation is to help us to complete and implement a new program that my board and I have been developing since January in cooperation with Promentica Monroe, Promedica Cancer Center and The Toledo Clinic Cancer Center. It's called CommUNITY Cancer Assistance and Resource Program. We have created this in order to provide education, information, support, services and some financial resources for Cancer patients in Monroe County. Working closely with everyone our goal is to be one of the first points of contact as soon as a Cancer diagnosis occurs. At that point, and working closely with a social worker and navigator, we can start resourcing as many of the items that we can provide. We are not treatment or medical in any way. Just support and services. Hopefully during my CF presentation I was able to impress the critical importance of this program. Now that Dr. Triveti has closed her office in Monroe, we are at the threshold of a Cancer CRISIS. In my oppinion. Patients that can't find transportation to her Sylvania office. Patients who's insurance won't cover them in Ohio.
Promedica basically only has one on staff Cancer Dr. but working quickly to add addition staff.
So, Monroe County has currently over 30,000 Cancer diagnosed residents. Last year there were 600 new diagnosis.
18 - 35 is effected the most and CHILDHOOD CANCER is at an all-time high.
Ribbons of Monroe is a 501C3 nonprofit who's ONLY source of funding is Donations, Grants and fundraisers. Every dollar is used to help Monroe County Cancer patients, family members and even caregivers. We will keep you updated on our Community Foundation grant process. And we ask that you also consider supporting us in whatever way you can.
We are Stronger Together
Together, We will do great things!!
