Recovery communities can look different.

A recovery center. A meeting. A group. Faith community. Gym. Volunteer group. Recovery housing. Friends. Family. Peer support.

An urge can be strong without requiring an immediate response.

Notice what you are feeling.

Give yourself some time. Change environments. Reach out to someone. Do something that supports the direction you want your life to go.

You still get to choose what happens next.

Our recovery community lost someone very special this week.

Rebecca Turner was a longtime friend and partner of Recovery Advocacy Warriors. She was someone we had the privilege of working alongside for many years. There are simply too many ways Rebecca supported the recovery community and the people we serve to name them all. From her work in Project Assert, Saint Joseph Center of Hope, harm reduction, community collaboration, referrals, and simply being someone you could count on. Rebecca was a constant presence in this work.

Rebecca poured her heart and soul into a mission that we shared: saving lives, helping people, and making recovery possible. She cared deeply about the people behind the work, and she showed that through what she did every day.

We are incredibly grateful for the years we had working alongside Rebecca, for her friendship, and for everything she gave to our recovery community.

Her absence is felt deeply.

We extend our deepest condolences to Rebecca's family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who loved her.

Stuck in your head?

Change something physical.

Step outside. Take a shower. Move to another room. Go for a drive. Come hang out at the recovery center.

A small change in environment can sometimes help interrupt a difficult moment.

Today, we remember the lives lost to overdose, hold space for the people who love and miss them, and stand beside those who are still finding their way.

Every life has value. Every story matters. Every person deserves compassion, dignity, connection, and hope.

May we continue building communities where people feel safe asking for help, supported wherever they are, and reminded that change and recovery are always possible.
