It was our pleasure to honor the life and nursing career of Barbara Preston LPN. She was one of the first graduating LPN classes of Athens Tech, a nurse at the original Walton Co Hospital and several doctors in Monroe. May you rest in peace Barbara, we will take it from here.

It was our pleasure to honor the 50+ years nursing legacy of Mary Ann Mapp-Long RN. She was an amazing nurse, preceptor and friend to all that knew her. She will be missed. Rest in peace sweet angel.

On Memorial Day, we remember those who wore a uniform into places where the stakes were absolute. Nurses wore one too. Not on the front line with weapons — but in the field hospitals, the military wards, the overwhelmed corridors behind the lines where the wounded arrived faster than the supplies did. They made decisions under conditions that no training fully prepared them for. They held lines of a different kind. Today, alongside every soldier remembered — we remember them.

Last year, we proudly submitted for our first Georgia Nurse Honor Guard Commendation—a recognition that reflects our deep commitment to honoring nurses across our state. A renewal request is required to be submitted annually ❤️🤍💙

This year, we are beyond excited to share that Governor Brian Kemp has issued an official Proclamation in recognition of our work—an elevated distinction that shines an even brighter light on our mission! 👏📜

The Proclamation designates May 12—Florence Nightingale’s birthday—as Nurse Honor Guard Day in Georgia! 🕯️🌹

This incredible recognition honors the legacy, compassion, and service of nurses, and the sacred role of the Georgia Nurse Honor Guard in paying tribute at the end of life. 🤍
