Here is the 1¾ day roundup:

12UB: The younger Patriots started gold bracket play Wednesday, which they earned with with two wins Tuesday in pool play. Their opponent was the Lighthouse Chargers (MO) who finished second in their pool. The game started (very) early, but the Patriots were ready and won easily, 46-13 which earned them a spot in the D3 semifinals against Legacy Prep (TX). The boys fell behind by 16 early in the second half, but fought back to within seven, but that as close as they would get, falling 36-27. They play Kansas City East (MO) for third in D3 tomorrow at 11:20.

14UB: The junior high Patriots battled Faulkner County (AR) and came away with a 41-38 win on Wednesday. This earned them a spot in the 2A gold ball game today against Legacy Prep (TX). The boys pulled ahead by 8 at halftime, but it was a 2-point game after three. HSRC steadily added to that lead in the fourth and won 44-33 to earn the gold ball, 14UB’s first since their D1 national championship year of 2019. 16UB: The JV boys were thoroughly beaten by the THESA Riders (TX) on Wednesday 66-32, a D1 level team that averaged about 3 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier than our boys. This moved them in the bronze bracket of D3. They regrouped today and downed the Lighthouse Chargers (MO) 62(or 61)-54 to move them into the bronze ball championship game vs. KC Metro Mavs (KS) at 9:00am tomorrow.

18UB: The varsity boys were beat and beaten up by FBCHA (TX) Wednesday 78-53, a game in which no fewer than four players missed time with injuries. The game was tied at 38 at the half, and the Patriots were only down 6 when the last two injuries occurred, and the Eagles pulled away from there. Tonight the boys take on EVAC (AZ) in the D3 bronze semifinals.

Whew! What an incredible week the HSRC basketball teams have had at the National Homeschool Regionals over the past 3 days! We competed with over 250 other homeschool teams and even brought home some hardware! Woo!

5 of our teams and their families packed up and headed to Lebanon and Westfield Indiana on Wednesday to begin competing for regional titles.

10U (littles from the EL team)
12U (EL)
14U (JH)
16U (JV)
18U (Varsity)

Each team played at least 3 games with a few of them playing 4. All of our teams entered into the Division 2, (aside from 10U since they only had one division). At the end of the week our teams played a total of 18 games and went 11-7 (winning record!) Here is how each team ended the week!

10U - Played a total of 4 games going 1-3 and taking 4th place in the Silver Bracket.

12U - Played a total of 4 games going 2-2 and taking 4th place in Divison 2 Gold Bracket.

14U - Played a total of 3 games going 3-0 and taking 1ST PLACE in the Division 2 Gold Bracket!

16U - Played a total of 3 games going 2-1 and taking 3rd place in Division 2.

18U - Played a total of 4 games going 3-1 and taking 1ST PLACE in the Division 2 Silver Bracket!

A few highlights from the week!

🌟In 12U’s first game of regionals, Shawn Rangel took a buzzer be**er shot at the end of the 4th quarter, banking it to tie up the game and go to over time! The game ended going to double over time with a final basket by Corbin Butler to take the win!

🌟Coach Andre Hogan took his 14U team to the D2 championship game and WON IT! It was a bitter sweet moment as this will be his last year coaching for HSRC. What an amazing coach he has been for these boys! We will miss him greatly!

🌟Noel Green became HSRC’s all time leader for steals, hitting a massive 414 total by the end of regionals. On top of that Noel also his 1,000th rebound over this week! Congrats Noel! Can’t wait to see what else this guy can do!

And that’s a wrap on 2026 regionals! Nationals in Springfield MO is coming up next! See you for that recap soon! 😍
