12UB: The younger Patriots started gold bracket play Wednesday, which they earned with with two wins Tuesday in pool play. Their opponent was the Lighthouse Chargers (MO) who finished second in their pool. The game started (very) early, but the Patriots were ready and won easily, 46-13 which earned them a spot in the D3 semifinals against Legacy Prep (TX). The boys fell behind by 16 early in the second half, but fought back to within seven, but that as close as they would get, falling 36-27. They play Kansas City East (MO) for third in D3 tomorrow at 11:20.
14UB: The junior high Patriots battled Faulkner County (AR) and came away with a 41-38 win on Wednesday. This earned them a spot in the 2A gold ball game today against Legacy Prep (TX). The boys pulled ahead by 8 at halftime, but it was a 2-point game after three. HSRC steadily added to that lead in the fourth and won 44-33 to earn the gold ball, 14UB’s first since their D1 national championship year of 2019. They play Saline County (AR) for the undisputed D3 championship tomorrow at 2:55pm
16UB: The JV boys were thoroughly beaten by the THESA Riders (TX) on Wednesday 66-32, a D1 level team that averaged about 3 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier than our boys. This moved them in the bronze bracket of D3. They regrouped today and downed the Lighthouse Chargers (MO) 62(or 61)-54 to move them into the bronze ball championship game vs. KC Metro Mavs (KS) at 9:00am tomorrow.
18UB: The varsity boys were beat and beaten up by FBCHA (TX) Wednesday 78-53, a game in which no fewer than four players missed time with injuries. The game was tied at 38 at the half, and the Patriots were only down 6 when the last two injuries occurred, and the Eagles pulled away from there. Tonight the boys take on EVAC (AZ) in the D3 bronze semifinals.
