Monee Historical Society

Monee Historical Society Help us discover, record and preserve the history of Monee. Open every Tuesday from 10 am - 3 pm. Saturday- once a month 10 am - 3 pm.

As the original mission of the Save the Monee Creamery Foundation has been achieved - the Creamery is not in any current danger of demolition - the group decided to broaden its scope to include future use of the Creamery building as a focal point for Village activity and appreciation of our heritage.

Moo-Rie is visiting Bultema Farms and Greenhouses, Inc in Beecher! Thank you to the family-owned nursery and greenhouse for supporting the MHS fundraiser! Don't forget to stop in on Wednesday, 5/13 and "pick" your own from their beautiful selection. Just be sure to mention MHS. Happy shopping!

Where in the world is Moo-Rie? Stop for a minute and smell the flowers!

This is one of my favorite displays! These lovely (some well-worn) wedding and bridesmaids gowns all have a story to tell. Stop in soon to see them before they are packed away again. Thank you to Chicago History Museum for your advice in making them display ready. Sigh.

May events are "springing" up!

Join us on Saturday, May 16th for the 1619: The Journey of a People, a presentation by playwright, professor & performer Ted Williams III. Ted will bring to life the story of our people. As part of the Illinois Humanities Road Scholars program, this will be an event not to be missed.

Don't forget to visit Bultema's Farms & Greenhouses on Weds. May 13th for our Blooms for a Cause fundraiser! Just mention MHS and a portion of your sale will be donated to MHS. Get your gardens started!

Join us on May 26th as we once again host actor Terry Lynch as he presents Counting Down to 250. Registration is required for both of our presentations. Go to: www.peotonelibrary.org to register.

Lastly, although not mentioned in the May news, tickets for Mrs. Furst's Charity Tea event have gone on sale! Look for the info on our website, give us a call at 708-534-8635, or follow the link:
