Berkeley County Waterfront Park opens today! The large park is on the site of the former Atkins Landing and Lions Beach and is an addition to the Mega Boat Landing already open. Atkins Landing was opened by the Atkins family in 1954 and closed in 2014.

This straight pin is topped with a decorative cat's head, complete with orange stone eyes. It dates to the late 1800s and is possibly Czech in origin. What outfit would you wear this pin with?

👶 It's a during October, so it's fitting that we share this Bye-Lo Baby doll. But if you're afraid of dolls, you may think it's instead!

This doll's bisque head was sculpted by Grace S. Putnam circa 1923. The doll has a cloth body, suitable for cuddling. Bye-Lo Babies were created until the 1950s.

The Museum's Bye-Lo Baby, lovingly called Max, is dressed in the original cotton batiste christening gown, undershirt, and one sock; the other sock and diaper are missing.

Max is currently on display in our "Et Cetera" lobby display case, so be sure to say hello the next time you stop in!

🏀 On October 19, 1933, the Olympic Committee voted to introduce men's basketball as a medaling sport in 1936. The US took home the first basketball gold. Women's basketball wasn't introduced until 1976.
