We’re incredibly grateful to the John Deere Classic Birdies for Charity and all our generous supporters of Bird #27!

Our Vice President of Development, Luis Moreno, and Board Chair, Bill Stoermer, were honored to accept a generous donation—including an incredible 8.85% bonus match from Birdies for Charity—on behalf of SAL Community Services at today’s press event and check presentation.

Thanks to the 2026 John Deere Classic and Birdies for Charity, a record-smashing $20.1 MILLION was raised to benefit over 490 nonprofit organizations throughout the region!

Support like this helps us continue our mission to strengthen children, families, and individuals to build and enhance thriving communities.

🌞 Thank you to all the families who joined us for Niabi Zoo Family Day! 🦁

Our Prevention Initiative, Early Head Start, and Home Visiting programs teamed up to host a wildly fun (and FREE) day at the zoo on September 19th!

Families enjoyed a full day of making memories and free admission, parking, carousel and train rides, and more – all on us!

We loved seeing so many smiling faces and unforgettable family moments. Until next time, zoo crew!

Today this the last day to submit your public comment to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. Help protect Head Start and Early Head Start for families today and for generations to come!

It’s the last day to submit a public comment on the Head Start Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), “Reducing Federal Burden for Head Start Programs.”

There is still time to make your voice heard. Programs, staff, parents, caregivers, alumni, and partners can submit a public comment sharing their perspectives on the proposed changes, including what they support, what raises concerns, and what they want federal decision-makers to consider as they work toward a final rule.

The new Skip-a-Long Rock Island center opens at the end of October and we’re open for enrollment! Our same high-quality, evidence-based care and education will be supported in the new center by additional classrooms, expanded facilities, new playgrounds, and a new intergenerational program (the first in the Quad Cities!)
