The City of Mitchell has FREE TNR services

Feeding and caring for outdoor cats without spaying and neutering may feel compassionate, but it actually allows the cycle of suffering to continue.

One unspayed female cat — and her kittens — can lead to hundreds of cats over time. The result is more starving kittens, disease, injuries, fighting, dead kittens, overwhelmed shelters, and cats being hit by cars or harmed by weather and predators.

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is what stops the cycle.
When community cats are:
• trapped
• spayed/neutered
• vaccinated
• and returned to their territory

the population stabilizes and gradually declines. The cats live healthier lives, nuisance behaviors decrease, and far fewer kittens are born to suffer outdoors.

Feeding alone is not rescue.
If food is provided without sterilization, the colony grows, more cats are attracted to the area, and the problem becomes worse each breeding season.

Real compassion means taking responsibility for prevention — not just providing food.

If you feed feral cats, please also support TNR:
✔ Spay/neuter every cat possible
✔ Get kittens socialized and adopted when possible
✔ Vaccinate when you can
✔ Work with local rescues and TNR groups
✔ Encourage responsible pet ownership

We cannot “save” cats by allowing endless litters to be born outside. TNR is the humane solution

The City of Mitchell has free TNR Services.

If you are caring for cats that you would like to keep, contact us. We will provide you with traps and pre-approved numbers you can use to have your cats altered, virus tested, and vaccinated at Creekside.

If you have cats you want removed from your property contact amimls control. They will either trap for you or loan you a trap. If they are unable to do so, traps can be borrowed from the TNR program. These cats go to the pound. Friendly cats end up on the adoptable side of the rescue. Feral cats go to TNR. All TNR cats are vetted at Lakeciew and then picked up by adopters with approved applications.

2026 TNR Services

For 2026 we will be serving the Mitchell community only. We no longer have vet services available for those out of town

As a spay and neuter program we do not offer rehoming services. The only cats we will rehome or place on farms will be the feral cats we take out of the city pound

If you are caring for community cats you would like to keep around, contact us. We can provide you with pre approved numbers you can use to take your cat to Creekside to have the vet work done for free. This will include rabies, spay/neuter, virus tests and tattoo

If you have feral cats in your neighborhood that are not being cared for or you would like removed, contact animal control. Animal control will take the cats to the pound. Lakeview will do the vet work and we will place them on a farm.

We also have traps you may barrow for whatever your needs may be.

Reminder to all Mitchell residents...

We are here to help get outdoor community cats spayed and neutered .

If you have community cats that you care for, that you would like to continue maintaining, contact us. We will provide you with numbers you can use at Creekside Vet to have these animls spayed/neutered, virus tested, rabies vaccinated and tattooed for free. If you need traps, we can barrow you some.

If you have community cats in your neighborhood that need to be removed, turn them into animal control. Lakeview will do the vet work and they will be placed on farms that have passed an application process.

Only feral cats will be farmed. All friendly cats will go to the adoptable side of the rescue where they will be adopted as indoor pets.

Note that we are a spay and neuter program, not a rehoming service. The only cats that we will relocate are those that we take out of the pound.

UPDATE: ADOPTED

This is Jerry. About 4 to 5 months ago his family moved and left him behind. He has always been an outside cat and has continued to live where his family left him. He is estimated to be about 2 years old, has been around dogs and loves children. Tomorrow he will get all of his vet work completed. He will continue to live at his current out door home in Corssica until we can find him a new home. Can anyone find it in their hearts to add this animal to their family. The home he stays at will eventually be occupied by a new family. We fear they may not want him. I'm not sure how he would do as an indoor cat. It would be ideal to find him an indoor / outdoor home where he is given love and attention.

Although we did cover his vet costs, his adoption is not through the TNR program. If you are interested please message us. We can get you in contact with the neighbor care taker.
