James Valley Drift Skippers Snowmobile Club The James Valley Drift Skippers is a snowmobile club in Mitchell SD and is wanting to welcome anyone

The "year of the snow" 1968-1969 in which the Mitchell area had received 58" of snow and many blizzard conditions, prompted many rural people to purchase snowmobiles as "necessities. Several lake Mitchell residents who purchased snowmobiles used the to assist in emergencies such as helping reach isolated individuals, feed stranded cattle, deliver food and medicine, assist in search operations and

much more. On the cold nights that winter, the drone of several snowmobiles could be heard as these men returned from assisting others, not telling their wives how much fun snowmobiling really was. (They were afraid they would have to purchase a second machine, and later most of them did)
