THE COUNTDOWN TO ART BLIZZAARD CONTINUES WITH ONLY 1 DAY REMAINING!!

Today’s ARTvent calendar features two very special artists; former VonCommon Studios President and current VonCommon Studios President 💕

Isn’t participating in Art Blizzaard as a vendor; but back in September before she moved away she helped host the Cut and Paste Party during our “Spellbound” fundraiser. Afterwards she digitally compiled the zine for us to sell during Art Blizzaard! Thanks for volunteering all your time and effort Lauren!!💖

You’ll be able to find the VonCommon Studios Zine at our merch table! It features the collages created during the 9/5/25 Cut and Paste Party as well as the backstory of Voncommon Studios as written by VonCommon founder !!

Through the transmutation of personal photography into mixed-media drawings, I create poetic narrative pieces best described as surreal illustrations. The combination of being raised in Big Sky Country and early exposure to nursery rhymes, comic strips, nature documentaries, and antique shops, inspires many of the elements within my work. Through research and intuition, I incorporate symbolic elements that explore relationships, internal worlds, and the spiritual, conjuring a liminal space that processes life via the natural world.

I create whimsical wearables, artwork, and curiosities for the people who yearn for more magic. I make hand-drawn faux butterfly wing earrings, upcycled clothing, block-printed apparel, original 2D artworks, stuffed animals from thrifted materials, and other handmade things that draw my interest! I have a wide range of sizes for my one-of-a-kind clothing because all humans are different! I also offer custom printing to ensure my pieces are accessible to all. Along with my usual setup, I will also have holiday curated items such as greeting cards and hand-sewn stuffed animals.

My process starts messy and loose, with splattered acrylics and inks for a background. I almost always use bright and intensely contrasting colors in my work. I enjoy depicting mountains I’ve visited, various animals, and my own body as it continues to change. Though I have a different approach for each of these subjects, I find that they still feel unified. We are all a part of nature, just residing in different forms. Humans want to separate ourselves, perfect ourselves, but we are also animals. Our bodies are imperfect and ever-changing, just like the landscape and the other creatures that inhabit it.

I am a fine artist- as well as a sewist who upcycles clothing with raw edge appliqué. I hope to vend my original paintings, stickers, prints, and upcycled clothing

began as a passion for thrifting and evolved into a small business during the pandemic. I sold vintage and pre-loved fashion items and home decor while I was in school at UM. I competed and placed in both UM and MSU's small business start-up challenges with this small business idea and learned how to run a small business while actively applying what I learned in practice. Since graduating and working full-time at a mental health nonprofit, the focus has shifted to smaller-scale projects, with an emphasis on combining multiple art forms, utilizing pre-loved goods and thrifted items to create new pieces. Many of my items incorporate aspects of crochet, embroidery, and journaling, with sustainability at the forefront of my creative process. I paint the wildlife, nature, and western themes that fuel my soul. Every piece is an invitation into my world, directly inspired by my experiences as a woman backcountry guide. Hey guys! My name is Schafer Bungay, the founder of Flathead Fragrance Co.
I was born and raised in Kalispell, Montana, and I’m currently a marketing student at the University of Montana.

The Flathead Valley has always been home. It’s lakes, pine trees, and mountain air are where I feel most alive.

I’ve been obsessed with cologne for years — I own more than 30 fragrances, and over time, I’ve studied what makes each one special. I wanted to find a way to represent the Flathead Valley in a scent. Something that captures the calm, the beauty, and the feeling of home.

That’s how Flathead Fragrance Co. started. Each fragrance is inspired by a real place or memory around Glacier National Park and the Flathead Valley, with scents that closely match each landmark. I carefully select these and bottle everything here in Montana.

Missoula Handicraft & Arts Center - Brandi Jessup & Rachel Calderon
MHAC’s goal is to provide a space where artists can work with tools and facilities not easily accessible outside of academia and create alongside a community of working artists.
Brandi, a ceramicist, has created some insect themed jewelry dishes, mugs, and spoons.
Rachel is a mixed media artist and will be selling some found object keychains, oil pastels illustrations, and collage based greeting cards. Our work together is focussed on practicality such as everyday objects we use: keychains to make sure we don’t lose our keys, dishes to put your jewelry in, small art pieces that are easy to frame, and every day greeting cards that can last year round.
