Here is an opportunity to learn more about Minnetonka Together!

Minnetonka residents value the city’s public amenities, recreation opportunities and strong public safety services. After decades of use, the city is planning responsible investments to address growing challenges and opportunities to better serve the community.

• Fire Stations 2 and 3: Minnetonka’s two oldest fire stations were built decades ago and were not designed with today’s 24-hour staffing, modern equipment storage or air quality standards in mind.

• The Marsh: Aging infrastructure requires significant repair to ensure accessibility, maintain reliable operations and meet growing demand.

• Regional Trails: Heavy use and missing connections limit the trail system’s ability to function as a seamless transportation and recreation asset.

• Opus: Opus is a major employment and activity center but lacks a dedicated, outdoor gathering space.

FYI on the new update in regards to school buses and when to stop for them. Now it’s when the red lights start flashing!

FYI on the new update in regards to school buses and when to stop for them. Now it’s when the red lights start flashing!

An updated law in Minnesota now requires drivers to stop when a school bus's stop arm is out, closing a dangerous loophole. Previously, the law required drivers to stop for a bus when its red flashing lights were on and the stop arm was extended. This created a situation in which some drivers might pass the bus when the lights were flashing but the stop arm wasn't fully extended. Effective immediately, when red lights are flashing, a vehicle must stop 20 feet away from the school bus whether the stop arm is extended or not.

Law enforcement will address questions on the change during a press conference at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at Burnsville High School. In addition, a livestream of this event will be available on the DPS YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/live/dHD5blngpikl.
