As Independence Day approaches, it's important to remember that fireworks aren't enjoyable for everyone in the family.
For many dogs, the loud noises and unexpected bursts can be stressful and frightening. That's why July 4th is one of the busiest times of the year for lost pets, with frightened dogs often escaping in search of safety.
Take a look at some advice we’re sharing to keep dogs safe and comfortable. ⬇️
Before fireworks begin:
🎆 Make sure collars, tags, and microchip information are current.
🎆 Walk and exercise your dog before fireworks begin.
🎆 If your dog struggles with noise anxiety, talk with your veterinarian now about options that may help your dog feel more comfortable.
During fireworks displays:
🎆 Keep pets indoors during fireworks.
🎆Close windows, blinds, and curtains to reduce noise and flashing lights.
🎆 Turn on a TV, fan, or calming music to help mask sounds.
🎆 If your dog needs to go outside, keep them on a leash—even in a fenced yard.
