MPA is pleased to recognize the 2026 MPA Volunteer of the Year, Erika Scherman!

Erika was nominated by Irondale HS Director, Paul Weber!

“Erika has been, and continues to be, a tireless advocate for the Irondale drumline and the school’s broader music program. She prepares meals, drives trucks, tailors uniforms, helps organize events, co-chairs the Mounds View Arts Alliance, and meets every challenge with a smile. Over her six years of volunteering, Erika has also served as band booster president and vice-president.

What makes Erika’s contribution truly exceptional is her multi-generational connection to the program: she is both a parent and an alumnus. Erika marched in the Irondale winter drumline, performed at the very first MPA Championships, and most recently supported her two sons at the latest one. Her dedication to our activity is enduring and wholehearted.”

Congratulations, Erika, and thank you for all you do for your community!
