SOLID Robotics Team Creating a SOLID foundation is our team motto. Our robotics team competes in the First Tech Challenge (FTC) league and helps promote STEM in our community.

Team SOLID would like to send a thank you to all the people in our community that donated to our second food drive that took place this past Monday. We were able to collect over 1030 pounds of food as well as several checks and cash donation. All of this food is going to a great place to help out lots of people in this great time of need. Our team is doing our part during this pandemic by helping out our communities that are most effected. We recently donated supplies to Lake Winona Manor nursing home to help the residents stay busy during these difficult and lonely times. A special shout-out goes to one of our own team members, Micheal Marshall. Micheal has qualified for the MSHSL cross country state tournament. Although the MSHSL has had to cancel the opportunity to participate at a state level tournament due to COVID, we would like to congratulate him on his efforts. Way to go Micheal!

The Open Door food shelf has gone from serving 7000 people a month to 18000 people a month now sense this epidemic. Would would like to say thank you to all the Eagan FTC and FRC teams that donated a total of 478 pounds of food and $100 check for supplies last Tuesday. We know this food is going to a great place that will help out our community.

SOLID Robotics is working with Eagan High School and other FTC and FRC teams to help collect food for our food drive. If anyone would like to donate food it would be very much appreciated and it would go towards helping people in these hard times. There will be a collection box on the outside of one of our team member’s house (address listed below) for people to put their donation in. Team SOLID had an amazing time helping out Maplewood and their Parks and Recreation department to find invasive species. We participated in a volunteer group to search lakes, looking primary for the invasive species known as Starry Stonewort. We collected samples to bring back to be further studied. Other invasive species were targets as well but to find Starry Stonewort was the main mission. If you see Starry Stonewort (depicted below) please notify your local government to help stop the spread of this invasive species.

FTC Team SOLID and FRC Team 2220 Blue Twilight recently collaborated to help out our community in these difficult times. We build robotics kits that contained activities and supplies related to engineering, and gave them to Minneapolis children who were recently affected by the riots. We hope that this can improve our community by bringing fun and learning opportunities to kids in need. High Tech Kids

Team SOLID sent a message of encouragement and good wishes to their SOLID STEM kids at Oak Ridge Elementary through a Zoom video. We also hope to continue their learning and interest in STEM over the summer by sending them STEM gift bags. Each gift bag has items such as books, coloring utensils, LEGO pieces, measuring tape, etc.. We also included a STEM booklet that Team SOLID made that has STEM activities and challenges to encourage learning over the summer. We will miss the SOLID STEM kids!

Team SOLID had a wonderful time helping out with jr. FLL at Valentine Hills Elementary in Arden Hills. We are very pleased that we could help out more people and communities get involved in robotics and the High Tech Kids programs. We hope to continue our cooperation with Jr. FLL and FLL teams to make a brighter future.
