Their boots were made for walking! We completed the last 100 miles of the French Camino with these 8 adventurous trekkers (left to right, Jerry, Jane, Ann, Mary, Deirdre, Sue, Rachael and Clarke).

On behalf of the kids and families served by Smile Network, thank you for changing their lives, by lacing up your hiking boots to raise awareness and funds.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Tonight we celebrate, because after 12 days and 180 miles under the sunny skies of Spain, Rachael (Smile trek Guide and employee) and I will guide the final group of trekkers tomorrow on the French Camino to the final destination of Santiago.

As part of their trek, each trekker has raised money to underwrite the cost of surgeries for children born with cleft lips or palates. Collectively the 19 trekkers have raised over $80,000 to support upcoming surgical campaigns in León, Mexico beginning this fall. For as little as $500 a surgery, Smile Network International (www.smilenetwork.org) is able to change the life of a child.

To each and every trekker and the donors who donated on their behalf …. Thank you for changing the trajectory of the lives of so many children. This work is not possible without you!
