Gail Bakkom Artist Talk: Quilt Exhibition
Wednesday, August 26 | 10am-12pm | Carlson Hall

Join us TOMORROW for an Artist Talk with Gail Bakkom to learn more about her artistic process and the quilts on display!

This exhibition, installed recently by Hennepin's Fine Arts committee, is an eye-catching show of hand-sewn quilts by designer Gail Bakkom. It's a timely match up with the State Fair, as viewers would award all Gail’s quilts with blue ribbons!

ALL are welcome to join!

Gail Bakkom studied costume design at the University of Minnesota and the Guthrie Theatre Costume Workshop. She was Costume Director and sometimes, designer for 28 years with the Minnesota Opera. The Minnesota Opera honored her by naming the costume studio The Gail Bakkom Costume Shop.

This exhibition will be on display in Carlson Hall through September 8.

Grounding in Faith with Pastor Elizabeth Macaulay

"The Holy Spirit has buried your past in the heart of Christ. And he will take care of your future." Brother Roger of the Taize Community

Minnesota Public Radio offered a powerful program this past Tuesday about how parents can support their children in this back-to-school time of year.

Transitions are exciting, and they are hard. Even changes that we welcome bring with them challenges.

One of the blessings of being in community together here at Hennepin is the constancy of support and presence offered through this Body of Christ. The people who gather for worship, doughnuts and Sunday Snack time are the village the Holy Spirit has provided to pray for you and yours.

Through Sunday School, Confirmation, Kick Off Sundays, Parking Lot Parties, funerals and weddings, small groups and classes we gain strength for the living of our days.

The blessing of being part of an intergenerational community dedicated to magnifying grace, hope, and justice is immense. Meeting in the heart of Christ Jesus is the power and sustaining grace that leads us to commence the living of our days, whether they include new school years or aging bodies.

This summer we have been deeply blessed by those who have shared their faith stories during worship. We heard from the hearts of our kin in Christ the ways that they have experienced blessing through others.

I hope you have given yourself to the question of how you have been blessed as well as how it is you are blessing to others. From Generation to Generation God's grace waters our souls.

Together, we live into a future written in the heart of the Christ.

Join Manna Makers!

When life hands you bananas, make banana cakes! We had 23 lbs. of food shelf bananas in the freezer and it was time to bake!

Manna Makers got together on the 4th Saturday in July and made the equivalent of 20 9x13 banana cakes with brown butter cream cheese frosting. Both the Dignity Center guests and Community Meals guests enjoyed them greatly. Maybe you had a chance to have a taste a few weeks ago when they were offered by the doughnut table?

Manna Makers meets on the 4th Saturday of the month from 9-11am to prepare food for congregational needs like Sunday Brunch and Community Meals, among others.

On Saturday August 22nd, we will be making French Toast Bakes and Cheesy Hashbrowns for Sunday Brunch. All ages are welcome! You can sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/MannaMakers #/

Join us TONIGHT at the Loring Park Neighborhood Party for an evening of community celebration! There will be food and live music from Roe Family Singers to enjoy, as well as fun for both kids and adults! Kids activities include things like face painting and a bounce house! We will also be joined by local vendors, interest groups, and community groups. ALL are welcome to stop by and join in the fun!
