ECMC Group team members culminated their National Volunteer Month activities last week by distributing more than 800 books to students at Northrop Elementary School in partnership with Reading Partners. Thank you to the hundreds of employees from around the country who gave their time and talents to nonprofits in their local communities throughout the month of April.

Tuesday was “Doing Day” at ECMC Group – an annual event where employees gather to create items for several area nonprofits. Together, team members assembled snack packs, created blankets and weaved toys for a variety of organizations including Face To Face, Hope 4 Youth, Eastside Neighborhood Services, Reading Partners, River Falls Food Pantry, and the Animal Humane Society. Doing Day is just one of the many volunteer events ECMC Group will be facilitating during National Volunteer Month.

Applications for the 2026 Minnesota Cup competition are open until April 3, and once again ECMC Group is sponsoring the Education & Training Division and supporting entrepreneurs who are expanding access to education, workforce training, and economic opportunity. The competition is open to all Minnesotans and Minnesota‑based businesses earning less than $1M in annual revenue.

Since 2005, MN Cup has awarded $6.2 million in non‑dilutive seed funding and plans to award at least $400,000 this season, helping founders turn innovative ideas into lasting impact.

More than 200 students from the Sacramento area competed in Junior Achievement’s Stock Market Challenge. The annual event, sponsored by ECMC Group and staffed by our employees in the area, simulates real-world investing and fast-paced floor trading. ECMC Group is a long-time partner of Junior Achievement, whose efforts align with our mission to help students succeed.

A group of courageous ECMC Group team members donned bandanas, fake tattoos and other biker attire to participate in the 2026 last week to support Special Olympics Minnesota. This is one of the many community activities our employees support throughout the year.

This week, we celebrated the retirements of four outstanding ECMC Group leaders: Chief of Staff Heidi Johnson, Chief Investment Officer Greg Van Guilder, VP, Internal Audit Matt Mikulski, and VP, Corporate Services Chip McSherry. With a combined 124 years of service, their leadership and dedication have helped shape ECMC Group and advance our mission of helping students succeed. We’re incredibly grateful for their commitment and contributions—and we wish them every happiness in retirement.

Last night’s BestPrep Educational Forum was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when business, education and purpose come together.

ECMC Group was honored to support an evening dedicated to equipping the next generation with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed. From celebrating BestPrep’s 50 years of impact to the energy in the room, the message was clear: financial literacy is a catalyst for opportunity.

We were especially inspired by John Hope Bryant, whose call to action challenged each of us to become financial literacy mentors—helping young people build skills that can shape their futures, their families, and their communities.

We’re proud to stand alongside partners like BestPrep and leaders who believe in empowering the next generation with tools that last a lifetime.

Employees from the ECMC Group Minneapolis office recently packed bags of food at Every Meal, which will be distributed to K-12 students experiencing food insecurity. The team helped assemble 4,338 bags of food, which equates to 16,628 meals. Every Meal is focused on fighting child hunger and supports students at nearly 400 schools.

Yesterday, employees from across the ECMC Group enterprise created vision books as part of the organization’s ongoing effort to support the wellbeing of its team members. Individuals had time to pause and set intentions for the months ahead while creating a portable notebook to keep them motivated and aligned to their goals and aspirations.
