AN EXTRA SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT IS HERE! 🎉🤩🎉🤩🎉

B.E.S.T. is incredibly honored and proud to present its 3rd college cohort! On Saturday, August 1 we celebrated the accomplishments and forward movement of 8 amazing young, Black men! ✨📚✨

👉🏾 Putting in hours of work weekly over their senior year and summer resulted in these eight scholars receiving 63+ College Acceptances & over $1 Million in Scholarship Dollars Earned

👉🏾 These scholars stayed disciplined, honed in on their leadership skills, and explored experiences through a growth mindset. Our high school class of 2026 made way to now be known as the college class of 2030! 🎓

✨ To our families, funders, staff, and community members: thank you for making this moment possible through your encouragement, mentorship, and investment.

✨ To our scholars: thank you for being upstanding young men of kind character, warm resilience, and incredible promise. Your hard work, determination, and big dreams inspire all of us. We look forward to empowering your success as you continue on as B.E.S.T. College Scholars!

With so much growth with our scholars over the Spring and Summer months, today we’re spending a moment to share insight on a foundation piece of the B.E.S.T. universe: our logo! 😎

More than a design, B.E.S.T.’s logo is a symbol of hope and empowerment. And, it tells the story of why B.E.S.T. exists:

➡️ The graduation cap represents academic achievement—but look closely, it’s also blooming!

➡️ The leaves beneath it represent growth, symbolizing the seeds we plant and nurture as our young Black men grow into their potential.

➡️ Behind the cap, the rising sun radiates light, representing hope, promise, and a brighter future. The horizontal lines extend beyond the horizon, symbolizing a future filled with possibilities beyond what our scholars can see today.

Together, these elements represent the journey we envision for every B.E.S.T. Scholar: growth, achievement, opportunity, and a future where they don’t simply survive, they thrive. Our scholars are on the rise! ✨

Two B.E.S.T. scholars entering their freshman year of college this fall, they are on the receiving end of Wilson's Image College Scholarship. 😎

Founded and led by Teto Wilson, the scholarship was created to help remove financial barriers to higher education often faced by Black and Brown students in Minneapolis. Through the scholarship’s support, students have the opportunity to attend and achieve in higher education.

What a year, what a team! ✨

B.E.S.T. is truly grateful to have an incredibly talented and passionate group of people join forces to help our mission come to life. The team took time recently to celebrate at Fowling Warehouse for food, laughter, community, and a little bit of competition. 😎

Our newly minted high school graduates spent time celebrating themselves and fellow Wallin scholars over an evening of togetherness, laughter, and excitement.

Important lore to recall: All 2026 high school B.E.S.T. scholars will enter college this fall receiving specialized support (from both B.E.S.T. and Wallin Education Partners), an expanded diverse community of college peers, and up to $16,000 over four years in scholarship dollars. 🎉

There’s a winner in the house! 🎉

Today we’re honored to highlight Donnell “Donny” Ellis — an award winning, B.E.S.T. College Scholar who recently graced the stage to receive the George Floyd Arts & Culture Fellowship. Thank you to Win Back, led by Leslie Redmond, for recognizing Donny’s greatness and expanding potential. 🏆

What an honor it has been to watch Donny grow from a high school graduate ready to explore the world around him to an accomplished, young man gearing up for his junior year of college. The following except touches upon the enlightened path that he has set for himself:

“Growing up without many positive male role models, he made a conscious decision to pursue a different path, staying focused on education and personal growth while remaining on the A and B honor roll throughout school. Inspired by his parents’ sacrifices and his mother’s resilience, Donnell is motivated by a desire to create a better future for himself and honor his father’s dream of seeing his children attend college.”✨

At B.E.S.T., the high school years are an essential part of our work where we spend time ensuring our scholars are academically, emotionally, and financially prepared for higher education.
