Johnson Street NE/35W Ramp Intersection project overview

The City of Minneapolis is reconstructing Johnson Street NE between the 35W Ramps and 18h Ave NE. The project includes:

Removal of the existing street
Utility and signal upgrades
New pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks
ADA pedestrian ramps, signs and pavement marking
Off road bike lanes on the west side of the street
Green Stormwater Infrastructure

Due to scheduling conflicts, the project will now start on August 27, 2024, instead of August 21, 2024. See Map Below for the detour routes beginning at 10 PM August 27th.

We're excited for 2024 Opening Day this coming Thursday, June 6 from 4-7pm (2800 Johnson Street NE). We have lots of new vendors this year and the Bullfrogs, a neighborhood favorite band, will be performing live! Don't forget to bring the kids and sign them up for Power of Produce again this year (kids age 4-12 get a $2 token to spend on produce each market of the season)!

FIVE bands performing at the Hollywood Theater on April 6 between 3 and 8 p.m. Come for one or all, same price. Worth it to see inside the Hollywood, too! Profits go to repair the Johnson Street parking lot that has been free to the public for decades, supported by the surrounding merchants who need a little help. We've found a fun way to raise money to eradicate a least favorite thing - potholes! The last two bands are very dance-able, so come and have a great time!
