When she’s not supporting birthing parents welcome new lives into the world as an HCMC On-Call Doula or helping keep babies and children safe as a Car Seat Technician, Carolin is out running a 10K for a great cause!

This past weekend, Carolin participated in a 10K & helped raise more than $23,000 for Hennepin Healthcare Foundation!

We’re so proud to have Carolin as part of the Everyday Miracles team — whether she’s supporting families, keeping little ones safe, or lacing up her running shoes for her community.

September 30th marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day 🧡

Orange Shirt Day began in Williams Lake, British Columbia, on September 30th, 2013 to establish honoring Residential School Survivors, their families, and those who never returned home. It serves as a powerful reminder of the last impacts of the Residential School system.

The orange shirt symbolizes the loss of culture, freedom and self-esteem that many Indigenous children experienced. This day reminds us that Every Child Matters and idea that resonates deeply with our mission. Which shirt are you wearing this year? 👕

What is a Residential School? 💡
Residential schools were designed to separate children from families, culture, and communities, thereby wiping out their inherent existence. Over 150,000 children were forced to attend schools that were rampant in abuse, neglect, subpar education, and which led to the death of thousands of youth across the country. How did the government let that happen for over 160 years? It seems incredible, and yet, the last Residential school closed in Ontario in 1991.

Join Maternal Health Matters and Way to Grow for our 2nd Annual Community Baby Shower x Maternal Health Resource Fair on Saturday, October 17, at Sabathani Community Center.

Free and open to the public — no registration required! Connect with pregnancy, parenting, and maternal health resources and community partners.

🎉 Community Baby Shower | 12–2pm
For expecting parents and families with babies under age 1. Enjoy food, games, prizes, baby items, resources, and connection with other families.

Picking the right seat for your child can be overwhelming! Here's a quick guide for knowing which seat is the safest seat:

- Rear-facing: best for infants to 2 years old —> keep them rear-facing as long as possible
- Forward-facing with harness: once they outgrow rear-facing
- Booster seat: until the vehicle seat belt fits properly
- Seat belt only: when the lap belt sits on the hips and the shoulder belt sits across the chest.

Right seat. Right fit. Right stage!

Remember rear facing for as long as possible is best practice! 💡
