Join your neighbors for one of the spookiest and most beloved traditions in Northeast! The 12th Annual BeltramiScare takes place on Saturday, October 24th, at 5:30 p.m. at 1111 Summer St. NE, Minneapolis.

The event consists of skeletons, spooky sights, and plenty of Halloween fun. Haunted tours will run every 15 minutes, giving you a chance to explore the eerie corners of Beltrami in a safe and spirited way.

BeltramiScare is a family-friendly community celebration that brings together neighbors of all ages for thrills, laughter, and memories. Mark your calendars, invite your friends, and prepare for a frightfully good time!

LNENA will be giving away free Pumpkins to all that attend the event (while supplies last).

Dangerous Man's volunteer network is hosting a clean-up day in Beltrami tomorrow, Sunday October 4th from 11:30AM to 2:30PM.
Meet at the Dangerous Man taproom to start the clean-up. People will get maps and supplies like pickers, buckets, and high-vis vests. Plastic gloves will be provided, but people should bring work gloves if they'd like something thicker. It is suggested to wear water-proof shoes, because it will be wet from Friday's rain.

MPS SCHOOL TRANSFORMATION: COMMUNITY MEETING TONIGHT AT EDISON HIGH SCHOOL

Minneapolis Public Schools is holding a community meeting tonight, Friday, October 2, at Edison High School to hear feedback on the proposed options for its School Transformation Plan.

MPS has released proposed options that could bring changes to schools and programs throughout the district, including school attendance boundaries, feeder patterns, magnet and specialty programs, and the consolidation or relocation of some schools and programs.

The proposals include changes specific to the Edison pathway and Northeast Minneapolis, so this is an important opportunity for our community to learn more, ask questions and provide feedback before decisions are made.

Spanish, Hmong and Somali interpreters and childcare will be available.

Can't attend tonight? MPS is also collecting feedback through an online survey through October 16.

Minneapolis Public Schools: Community Input Opportunity

Minneapolis Public Schools recently presented three potential “Transformation” options to the School Board that could result in the closure of as many as 16 schools across Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Federation of Educators (MFE) is raising concerns about the proposals, including the potential impact on students and families and the amount of time available for community feedback.

MFE is encouraging parents, students, educators and community members to learn more about the proposals and participate in the public process before the School Board is expected to vote on November 10.

MFE is also circulating an organizational sign-on letter expressing opposition to the proposed school closures and inviting Minneapolis organizations to join the effort.

We encourage Lower Northeast neighbors, especially MPS families, to stay informed, share their perspectives, and participate in opportunities for community input as the School Board considers these significant changes.

The Spring 2027 Lawns to Legumes grant application is open! 🐝🎉

🌼 Lawns to Legumes is a Minnesota-wide program that awards reimbursement-based funding of up to $400 for creating pollinator habitat in your outdoor space with native plants.

🦋 Why plant for pollinators? Minnesota is home to over 500 native bee species, along with many butterflies, moths, and other pollinators. These creatures are essential to ecosystem health — but many have faced population declines. Lawns to Legumes helps reverse this trend by creating pollinator-friendly plantings across the state.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: GRACO PARK TUNNEL ART PROJECT!

Calling all artists! The City of Minneapolis is seeking artists and artist teams to create a new public artwork for the tunnel connecting Graco Park and Boom Island Park.

This is an exciting opportunity to help create something meaningful in our Northeast Minneapolis community! Artists at all skill levels and those working in a variety of materials and scales are encouraged to apply.

The selected artist or team will design and create artwork for the tunnel interior, with an emphasis on understanding the history of the area, connections to local communities and meaningful community engagement.

💰 Project Budget: $250,000
📅 Artist Informational Meeting: October 5 at 5 p.m.
❓ Questions Due: October 7 at 4 p.m.
📝 Intent to Apply Due: October 16 at 5 p.m.
