As a proud partner of Special Olympics, we're honored to help create a space where the community can come together to celebrate determination, inclusion, and the incredible spirit of the Games.

The Young Athletes Festival presented by Gillette Children's is coming to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games — and we want YOUR family there!

Designed for children ages 2–7 of ALL abilities, Young Athletes builds motor skills, friendships, and confidence through fun, play-based activities. At the Festival, kids will rotate through exciting sport stations — Get Fit, Strike & Throw, Running, Balance, Jumping, and Strider Bike — and earn a ribbon when they complete them all!

Last Thursday, Kris Bensen and I had a great time representing MDI at the Minneapolis Public Schools Special Education Resource Fair!

We connected with students, families, and community members while sharing information about MDI careers, SAW scholarships, and Cares Council grants. The event brought together incredible organizations focused on education, health, disability services, advocacy, technology access, and more; all working to support and empower our community.

Sometimes support looks different for every family who walks through the door.

That’s the reality for Advocates for Family Peace and the families they serve through their Supervised Visitation Program: creating safe, supportive spaces where children and parents can maintain meaningful connections while reducing exposure to domestic violence.

Through the MDI Cares Council, we’re proud to help support enhancements that make those spaces more welcoming, engaging, and accessible for families of all ages. From STEM activities and books to outdoor improvements like an accessible swing and playground updates, these resources help create moments of safety, stability, and connection when they matter most.

We’re grateful for the work Advocates for Family Peace does every day to support children and families in our communities.

Having the Special Olympics USA Games right here in Minneapolis means so much to our team. Minnesota gets the chance to show the country what community, opportunity, and purpose really look like.

For the first time in Special Olympics USA Games history, Fan Zone will be spread across three locations- each with their own unique vibe:

📍 Thrivent Fan Fest at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Maroon Lot near Huntington Bank Stadium - Live music, fun activities, interactive partner activations, photo ops, a beverage tent, and more.
📍 Fredrikson Fan Zone at National Sports Center - Local food trucks, sport demos, photo ops, a performance/recovery station, and interactive partner activations
📍 MDI Fan Zone at Mall of America Huntington Rotunda - An interactive and educational space celebrating the history of Special Olympics and the USA Games

Three locations. Three unique experiences. One unforgettable Games. 🏆
