💚 **WE HAVE NEEDS… AND OUR YOUTH ARE WORTH IT!** 💚

Running a youth center takes more than good people and big hearts (although we've got those covered! 😂). It takes supplies, food, and everyday essentials to keep things going.

Here's what we need to keep serving our youth. If you can help with an item, fantastic! If you can share this post, that's fantastic, too!

Every little bit helps us keep our doors open and our youth fed, safe, and busy doing good things. 💚

Please drop it off at our location Monday through Friday, between 2 pm and 5 pm. 44 Second St., top floor. Our main entrance is directly on Third Lane. You'll know you're at the right door when you see the decorated planters with eyeballs and a smiling skull wearing a top hat (Halloween-ready). Please call 608-201-1169 for staff assistance if you can't use the stairs or would prefer to coordinate with staff to pick up at your location.

DAY 2 — 🕷️ SPIDER WEB CHALLENGE-(photos will be added tomorrow)

🕷️ CAN YOU MAKE IT THROUGH WITHOUT TOUCHING THE WEB?!

Today's challenge tested balance, teamwork, patience and probably a few questionable dance moves. 😂

Teams are earning points—and the race for Halloween Champion is officially getting interesting!

Who's got the fastest team? 🕷️💨

🎃 IT'S HERE! 🎃

Day 1 of 20 Days of Halloween Fun started TODAY!

We kicked things off with team formation, team flags, Halloween trivia, a favorite childhood cartoon, music, and a whole lot of fun. Staff were even able to slip away to make updates to our no-questions-asked Ground-Floor pantry.

And yes...the team scoreboard is officially OPEN. 👀🏆

Which team will take home the Halloween Championship?!

Special Shoutout to our photojournalist Joseph. Joseph is one of our 11th-grade students and peer volunteers.

🎮🃏✂️📓 Well… we definitely kept things interesting at MAYC this week! 😂

We had a little bit of EVERYTHING — cards, video games, crafts, laughs, creativity, and even a little bit of wait…how are we going to make THAT?” 🤣

One of our favorite projects this week was having the kids make their own journals! 📓✨ And of course, once they started creating them, everybody had their own ideas about what their journal needed to look like. Because apparently there is no such thing as “just a journal” when you give a group of creative kids supplies! 😂

But we didn't stop at making them look cool.

We wrapped up the week talking about Dr. James Pennebaker and his research on expressive writing and why getting our thoughts and feelings out of our heads and onto paper can be such a powerful tool for emotional well-being.

And THAT is exactly why we love what we do here.

Sometimes it's cards.
Sometimes it's video games.
Sometimes it's glue, paper, and a whole lot of creativity.
And sometimes it's giving a student a journal and showing them that their thoughts, their feelings, and their story matter. ❤️

We don't just want our kids to have fun at MAYC.

We want them to leave with skills, confidence, memories, and a few tools they can carry with them long after they walk out our doors.

And honestly…if we can sneak a little learning in while they're having fun, I'm calling that a WIN! 😜🙌

Building lives. Building community. Building tomorrow today. 💙

🐉 Though our Thursday Night Adventure was postponed… the adventure didn't stop! 🎲

Last night we took a little trip back through adventures past and revisited some of our favorite D&D quotes from our youth adventurers.

And honestly… some of the things said around the table deserve to be remembered forever. 😂

Like this gem:

🐱 “I know all 28 of my cats’ names. It’s Steven.”

🎲🐉 Last night at MAYC… just another totally normal night in our D&D adventure! 😂

But the adventure continues… TONIGHT, our youth take the lead! ⚔️✨
