The Accelerated Industrial Maintenance (AIM) program is off and running, with program orientation this week!
This summer, AIM is being offered at the Blackhawk Technical College Beloit/Janesville and Monroe campuses. The program is funded through SMA partner, the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, and delivered in partnership with Blackhawk Technical College.
The AIM Certificate includes three college courses: Mechanics of Learning, Safety (OSHA 30 General Industry Certificste), and Troubleshooting Integrated Manufacturing Systems 1 (TIMS). These courses provide a strong foundation toward the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Technical Diploma for individuals furthering their education and pursuing careers in manufacturing.
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to explore career pathways through tours with local SMA manufacturing partners.

Congratulations to the Beloit Turner High School students who graduated from the Craftsman with Character program!

What an incredible day at the 5th Annual SMA Signing Day!
We were proud to celebrate 33 students and their employer sponsors as they begin careers in manufacturing. With more than 250 attendees, this was our biggest Signing Day to date and a celebration of the growing momentum behind manufacturing careers and workforce development.
A big thank you to our employer partners, educators, families, sponsors and community supporters who helped make the day so special.

Congratulations to the Edgerton High School Craftsman with Character students who graduated from the program this morning!
CWC founder, Dave Hataj, delivered an inspirational message to the students, sharing encouragement and motivation around the bright futures ahead of them.
SMA is proud to sponsor the CWC program and has been excited to see its growth — not only locally, but nationally — as it continues providing students with firsthand exposure to careers in the skilled trades.
Great things are ahead for these graduates and for the future of the manufacturing and trades industry!

SMA was proud to sponsor the Junk Yard Wars welding competition alongside our SMA partners, The Caldwell Group, Inc. & Kuhn North America, and ABC Supply at Blackhawk Technical College!
Students from area high schools showcased incredible creativity and skill, turning scrap materials into amazing sculptures. The talent and craftsmanship on display were truly impressive — great job by all involved!

Congratulations to the Craftsman with Character students of the School District of Janesville, WI graduating class! It was great to see a packed house at the graduation celebration held at the Blain Supply Conference Center.
The program included heartfelt speeches from students reflecting on their experiences and the impact the program had on their lives - a powerful reminder of how life-changing the CWC program can be. Programs like this help transform lives and open doors to rewarding careers in manufacturing and the skilled trades.
SMA is a proud sponsor of the program and appreciates all of the SMA partners who collaborate in this program - Working together to build the talent pipeline!

Congratulations to the Blackhawk Technical College students in the Electro-Mechanical & Automated Systems programs on an outstanding project presentation and demonstration in their Capstone Course! The students built a hydraulic test unit for our SMA member, Tigre, whose team provided valuable mentorship and support throughout the project.
A special thank you to all of the SMA partners who attended the presentation and to the employers who supported the students through apprenticeships and other earn-and-learn programs, including Scot Forge, Husco, Hormel Foods, Frito-Lay, and Stoughton Trailers.
Awesome to see education and industry working closely together to prepare students for rewarding careers in manufacturing!

Great to see students out in the community! It’s so important for them to discover what’s being made right in their own backyard while exploring the excellent career opportunities available locally.
This week, the School District of Janesville, WI Craftsman with Character students toured DSB Technologies, where they received an informative presentation and a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s operations and diverse career pathways.
Together, we are building a strong manufacturing pipeline for the future!

What a great way to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week!
It was fantastic to see our SMA partners out in force at today’s Youth Apprenticeship Job Fair, sharing the many YA opportunities available in our community. The Youth Apprenticeship program is an excellent pathway into careers—allowing students to earn while they learn and gain a valuable head start before graduating high school.
It was also great to have Blackhawk Technical College present, highlighting education pathways that align with the wide range of career opportunities right here in our community.
A big thank you to the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board for coordinating such a successful event. We are stronger together!

This is a great time to recognize and celebrate the skilled welders who make such a strong impact in our world - from manufacturing to construction and beyond. Your work quite literally holds everything together.
