🪵🇺🇸 Wood with a Purpose — Honoring Those Who Served

At the Community Shed of Mid-Michigan, we’re fortunate to have members who believe in giving back—not only with their time and skills, but also with the materials they have available.

A special thank-you to Paul, one of our CSMM members for donating wood that will be used to build flag cases for the Midland VFW. What was once an oak table became a meaningful tribute to veterans and a lasting way to honor their service and sacrifice.

This is what Projects with Purpose is all about—members sharing what they have, working together, and creating something that matters to our community. ❤️🇺🇸

We were honored to be the “Community Organization of the Game” at the Great Lakes Loons baseball game on Friday night. The Loons are a high A affiliate of the LA Dodgers and are a fun and integral part of our Midland Area Community.

A fun evening for ~15 members of our Community Shed and families to get together. We had a number of people stop by our table and chat, get more information, sign up as potential members or had potential projects for us to help other organizations with.

The Community Shed of Mid Michigan is proud to support another Project with Purpose!

Our members recently came together to assemble a storage shed for the Midland County Food Assistance Network, helping provide additional space to support their important work in our community.

This project is another great example of neighbors helping neighbors through teamwork, craftsmanship, and volunteer service.

Together, we are making a difference—one project at a time.

Supporting the great work of the Open Door with a mobile cabinet.

New cabinet alert!

Our friends from Community Shed of Mid Michigan made this beautiful cabinet in memory of Bill and Justin Hartwick to be placed in the office of the men’s shelter. Here, it will be store, protect, and care for the guests who stay at the Open Door - a testimony to two men who left this world too soon, but their legacies continue in our community.

We are blessed by their memory, and we are blessed by the Community Shed!

The Community Shed of Mid-Michigan is grateful for the generous support of the Midland 100 Club.

The Midland 100 Club’s contribution funded a new dust collection and air handling system, along with other important shop upgrades that improve safety, air quality, and the overall working environment for our members.

Grant funding will be used to support critical safety and facility improvements and essential shop improvements, tools and safety equipment.

The Community Shed of Mid Michigan would not be possible without the generosity, time, and belief of so many people in our community.

The Community Shed of Mid-Michigan is grateful for the generous support of the Midland Area Community Foundation.

Funding from the Midland Area Community Foundation made it possible to buy a larger wood planer, allowing us to mill donated rough lumber in-house and expand the types of projects we can take on.

Grant funding will be used to purchase of a new woodworking planer which will expand the organization’s capacity to complete projects that benefit nonprofits and residents.

United Way Lending Library & Chippewa Nature Center Birdhouse Kits

June has been a busy month, in a different way. CSMM had the opportunity to support the United Way/Deloitte volunteer day and Chippewa Nature Center summer camps. CSMM volunteers carefully cut and prepared the wooden components for the lending libraries and birdhouse kits, making them ready for assembly by participants.

Community Shed of Mid-Michigan (CSMM) is proud to support community involvement and learning through partnerships with the United Way Lending Library and the Chippewa Nature Center.

Great week working together and with our friends from The United Way to prepare the materials for 16 new Lending Libraries for our community. Great work from the members and fantastic support from The United Way of Midland County.

Woodworking Books at AAUW Book Sale Midland MI

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) holds a used book sale fundraiser every year. There are a number of woodworking books available for sale this year.

The sale will be Friday, April 24 & Saturday April 25 (9am-8pm) and Sunday, April 26 (10am - 3:30; $5 Bag Day) at Midland Mall center court . The Woodworking books are $1-$2. We also have a lot of Home Improvement, DIY books and other wood/building books.
They also have 10,000 other books- all genres: suspense, biographies, history & much more!
