Hi, I'm Lori Collick, a member of the Midland Community and of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. A quote that keeps me grounded me is, "Normal is a setting on the dryer." I'm not really sure who to credit it to but my dad used to say it to me while I was growing up.

The reason I find this quote so grounding goes back to when I was in middle school and high school...the time when most kids compare themselves to others. Some look around and think everyone has it better or easier than them. When I would get embarrassed by something and feel "not normal," my dad would say, "Normal is a setting on the dryer." This quote supports my wellbeing by bring me back to realization that there is no such thing as normal. It is just a setting on the dryer. We are uniquely created in God's image and that should be celebrated!!

So, the next time you are feeling less than normal, remember that is just a setting on your dryer! This has been brought to you by the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition's Quotes to Live By Series.

SAFELY Struggling

You matter—even when you're struggling. Difficult seasons don't diminish your worth. In fact, recognizing that you matter makes it easier to ask for help, lean on others, and remember that you don't have to carry life's challenges alone. And when we support someone else through a struggle, we remind them that they matter, too.

đź’ˇ Reflect:
What helps you remember that you matter during difficult times?

Who reminds you that you're valued when life feels heavy?

What healthy coping strategy has helped you struggle well?

How might asking for support strengthen—not weaken—you?

Who in your life might need a reminder today that they matter?

đź’¬ Share one strategy that helps you struggle well, and explore this Wellbeing Life Hack on our website!

Hi, I'm Meaghan, Sr. Director of Operations at McIvor Marketing. I'm a cat mom, fun auntie, world traveler, and member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. A quote that centers and inspires me is, "Life isn't about finding yourself. It's about creating yourself." The author is unknown, but it makes me think of my mother, who sent me this card shortly after I'd moved out of the house after college.

The reason I find this quote so inspiring is because it removes the idea that you are a stagnant, and instead allows you a lifetime of endless possibilities to become the person you want to be. This quote supports my wellbeing by reminding me that I am responsible for being who I want to be, and that can change and evolve throughout my life. It also reminds me that I am loved and encouraged to be the person I want to be.

So, instead of trying to figure out who you are based on the past, could you try deciding who you want to be in the future instead? This has been brought to you by the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition's Quotes to Live By Series. Cheers!

⏳ Resist the Clock

You matter—regardless of the timeline. It's easy to believe we're behind, but purpose isn't measured by speed. Mattering isn't earned by reaching milestones before everyone else. Trusting your own pace helps you focus less on comparison and more on making a meaningful difference.

đź’ˇ Reflect:

When do you find yourself feeling "behind"?

Who or what are you comparing yourself to?

What evidence shows you're growing, even if it's slower than expected?

How would your life change if you trusted your own timeline?

How can you remind yourself that your life and contributions matter right now?

đź’¬ Share one way you're learning to trust your own pace, and explore this Wellbeing Life Hack on our website!
