🤝 Create Micro-Moments of Connection

Connection doesn’t require big gestures. Small, consistent moments—like a quick check-in, eye contact, or shared laughter—build trust and belonging over time.

đź’ˇ Reflect:
• What are small ways I already connect with people during my day?
• Where could I be more intentional about creating connection?
• What is one micro-moment I could add into my routine this week?
• How do small moments of connection impact my mood or energy?
• Who might benefit from a quick, intentional moment of connection from me?

The Adult Thriving Asset Survey, from The Legacy Center for Community Success and Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition, is helping us better understand what is helping adults in our community thrive — and where people may be struggling or lacking support. This information matters because it helps guide future conversations, priorities, partnerships, and community efforts with real local data rather than assumptions.

The survey takes just 5–7 minutes (most people finish in under 5), and every additional response helps create a more accurate picture of life in Midland County. Please take a moment to fill this out before June 8th!

Hi, I'm Nolan Barcia, a Student Leadership member at Dow High. A quote that inspires me is, "To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone, and a funny bone," said by Reba McEntire.

The reason I find this quote so inspiring is because I have always been told I’m an uplifting person and always welcoming while keeping work in check. This quote supports my wellbeing because I have always tried to be an uplifting and funny person while also trying my hardest.

So, which one do you think is your strength? This has been brought to you by the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition's Quotes to Live By Series.

Sincerely,
Nolan

Hi, I'm Brady Meyette from Midland High School and a member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. A quote that inspires me is, "Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear," said by George Addair.

The reason I find this quote so inspiring is that it tells me that sometimes you need to step outside of your comfort zone and face failure or fear to reach what you want to achieve. This quote supports my wellbeing by reminding me that I have to take risks in order to see the other side.

So, how are you going to get outside of your comfort zone to see the other side? This has been brought to you by the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition's Quotes to Live By Series. Take risks!

📱 Gratitude Texts

Relationships are strengthened through small, consistent acts of appreciation. A simple message of gratitude can reinforce connection, build trust, and remind others they matter—often more than we realize.

đź’ˇ Reflect:
• Who has supported you recently in a small but meaningful way?
• What do you appreciate about that person specifically?
• How does expressing gratitude affect your sense of connection?
• When has receiving a gratitude message impacted you?
• Who might benefit from a gratitude text this week?

đź’¬ Share how you express appreciation, and explore this Wellbeing Life Hack on our website!

Hi, I'm Raymond Chai, a student at Dow High. A quote that focuses me is, "Always stop when you are going good and when you know what will happen next," said by Ernest Hemingway.

The reason I find this quote so focusing is because it helps me get tasks done. So many times, I waste time starting back up, thinking about what to do next and drowning in indecision with such a massive project ahead and so many tasks to get done.

This quote supports my wellbeing because it allows me to work consistently on projects, helping me feel more productive, finish tasks earlier, and reduce stress about missing deadlines. It helps save time for me to do the things I love, like playing piano and spending time with family and friends.

So, when do you stop when working on a project? This has been brought to you by the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition's Quotes to Live By Series. Take care!
