Winchester & Middletown Model Railroad Association We are dedicated to preserving the history of railroad operations in the Shenandoah Valley.

We are working with Middletown, VA to build a new facility in Middletown. Currently, members meet Tuesday nights at 6 pm at Shaffer's BBQ in Middletown.

The grading and finishing of the grounds has begun. Today they brought in heavy equipment to remove the old culvert, install new culverts and grade the entrance. Work will continue to level and smooth the site and prepare for the parking lot.

Look closely and you will see that rain gutters and downspouts have been installed.

Another milestone! The builders have turned over the interior of the station to us to work on. It's hard to get a good picture of this event, but here's a picture of the new door lock installed, showing that we have been given the keys to our new home! Now we just need to complete our big job of finishing the interior.

Oh, and CSX helped mark the occasion by sending a high rail vehicle down the tracks.

The siding is complete. Just needs the deck and the rain gutters.

We were granted access to the interior of the station today and got the following pictures. They show the view from the bay window in the agent's office, the view from the exhibition hall looking towards the freight room, the view from the exhibition hall looking towards the passenger waiting room and the view looking across the exhibition hall. As the exterior of the station is approaching completion, we are planning for our work on completing the interior.

Well, we didn't expect to be engaged in archeology, but digging to install plumbing, we found this pipe. It is cast iron with a joint sealed with lead. We think it was a water line from the stream on the east side of the site to the large water tank for the steam locomotives beyond the west side of our site, along the railroad right of way.
