Our EDA was glad to participate alongside our partners at Wi******er Regional Airport - OKV in The Virginia Unmanned Systems Center at Virginia IPC annual stakeholder meeting and the Virginia Aviation Business Association Legislative Reception for Virginia's aerospace, aviation, and advanced air mobility (AAM) community.

A newly released economic impact study from the Virginia Department of Aviation reveals that the Wi******er Regional Airport has experienced historic growth in recent years. When compared to 2017 baseline figures, the airport has nearly tripled its total economic contribution to the Commonwealth.

Frederick County industry representatives got an up-close look at programming offered at the Dowell J. Howard Center earlier this week. The visit sparked great discussion around current and future skill needs, as well as opportunities for partnership.

✨ Northern Shenandoah Valley 8th graders got a hands-on look at regional careers this week! At the annual Worlds of Work event, students explored career pathways across 10 different “work worlds” with the help of local businesses.

The EDA has approved $200,000 in scholarship funding to support Frederick County, Virginia, residents pursuing select FastForward Credential Programs offered through Laurel Ridge Community College Workforce Solutions. The scholarship program addresses critical industry needs by providing training in high-demand fields within the EDA’s target growth sectors, including:

- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A and CDL-B)
- Electrical and HVAC Apprenticeships
- Heavy Equipment Operation
- Mechatronics
- Welding

Laurel Ridge will administer the funds and verify participant eligibility.
