The seventh annual Proud to Be a Panther Challenge is ON! Over the next four days, the entire Panther family is coming together to back today’s student-athletes across all club and varsity programs.

The 2026 Clifford Symposium brought students, faculty, and higher education leaders to Middlebury September 24–25 for a two-day program focused on academic freedom and free expression, including a presidential conversation, faculty panel, and student debate. It marked the beginning of a yearlong discussion that will include additional symposium events.

Students, faculty, and college leaders examined the role of open dialogue and intellectual disagreement in a liberal arts education.

Welcome to our colleagues at the Middlebury Center for Nonproliferation Studies - CNS who just celebrated the opening of their newest office right here on our Vermont campus.

The Center’s expanded presence in Middlebury will create new opportunities for undergraduate students to engage directly with their world-class research, training, and work addressing the spread of weapons of mass destruction.

Middlebury College has been awarded $2.1 million from the National Science Foundation (NSF) as part of a four-year, multi-institution initiative to study PFAS contamination in Vermont, and its potential effects on community health. Middlebury’s interdisciplinary research team of five faculty members will focus on two prominent sites with PFAS contamination in Vermont: the Rutland–Southern Vermont Regional Airport and the greater Bennington area.

Five faculty members will work with researchers from Bennington College, the University of Vermont, and Landmark College to study “forever chemicals” contamination and the potential health effects.
