Starting **Friday, May 1st** and running all month long, stop by Hannaford in Middlebury, VT and check out the book table near the exit! You’ll find a great selection of novels—just make a donation and take home your next read.

Every dollar supports **Addison County Readers (ACR)**, an all-volunteer organization helping local children (birth to age 5) receive a FREE book in the mail each month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. 📖💛

It’s a simple way to grow your bookshelf while helping build a love of reading right here in our community.

Addison County Readers would like to send our heartfelt thanks to Vermont Book Shop for generously donating their time, energy, and books for the Blind Date with a Book fundraiser held in their store. Your support means so much to us and to the families we serve.

We are also incredibly grateful to each and every one of you who participated and showed such generous support. Because of you, more books will find their way into the hands and hearts of local children.

ACR is proud to partner with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to register children in Addison County, from birth to age five, to receive a FREE, age-appropriate book in the mail every single month.

Looking for a fun excuse to treat yourself (or someone you love) to a new book? 📚💛

Stop by the Vermont Book Shop in Middlebury and pick one up! Each book is wrapped in brown paper with a fun little clue written on the outside about what type of story is waiting inside, it’s like a mystery date with a book!

All books are brand new and available for a suggested $5 donation, with every dollar going right back into supporting early childhood literacy through Addison County Readers right here in our community.

It’s a simple, meaningful way to enjoy a surprise new read while helping little learners in Addison County thrive. Grab a book, unwrap the mystery, and while making a difference! 📖✨

Books are available until the end of February.

Blind Date with a Book is back!
Addison County Readers is excited to partner once again with the Vermont Book Shop in Middlebury to bring back Blind Date with a Book, starting Monday, February 2nd, and continuing throughout the entire month of February.

Stop by the shop to “blindly” take home a book (or two!) wrapped in plain brown paper. Each book includes helpful hints on the wrapper to guide you toward a great match—while still keeping the fun of the surprise.

A suggested $5.00 donation per book directly supports Addison County Readers, the local sponsor of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Addison County. Through this program, children from birth to age five receive a free book each month, helping to build a lifelong love of reading.

Last Saturday’s storytime with Ashley Wolff was a hit with her sidekick pup Rufus! More than 42 community members stopped by, and the children loved taking home their special drawings.

Big thanks to Margo, Erica, Marita, Ashley, and Shelby for making the event such a warm and welcoming success!

‼️Attention All Addison County Child Care Providers‼️

Addison County Readers is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of grants of up to $600 to help fund early literacy efforts in Addison County preschools, early childhood centers, and home daycares. New applicants are encouraged.

Grant funds may be used to purchase books or help defer the cost of materials, guest visitors, presentations, or performances, or for other activities that will increase children's exposure to books and participation in early literacy learning. Grants will be awarded in early 2026. Addison County Readers seeks to support early childhood education in all towns in Addison County.

If multiple providers would like to partner together for a grant to fund a training, initiative, events, etc. we would welcome these requests. Each applicant should submit their own application and refer to their partner(s) in the application. Each applicant can request up to $600.
